"You can find your way across this country using burger joints the way a navigator uses stars.”
American journalist Charles Kuralt reportedly said this, and I have to agree. I don't care if I never see the inside of another fast-food restaurant.
Still, those places are a treat for the kids, and I'm happy to make them happy when we're all crowded together in a vehicle for two days. After what seemed like the longest car trip ever, we arrived home safely late Saturday night. And each of us had never been so happy to see our own beds.
There's something about going on vacation that really makes you appreciate what you have at home.
What do I have at home? So many good things, like love and laughter and comfort and familiarity. Right now I also have mounds of laundry, but that's a story for another day.
I'm glad to be back here at the blog. I've missed it and you. ☺
Welcome back!
ReplyDeleteI can sometimes do fast food for breakfast, but that's it. Well, except for an occasional chocolate milkshake.
Thanks! I admit that every once in a while I get a craving for Taco Bell, but I never want to see another fast-food hamburger. ;)
DeleteWelcome back - hope you enjoyed your holiday!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sally. It was a lot of fun!
DeleteI feel you on that fastfood overload...
ReplyDeleteWelcome back. :)
Welcome Back! Missed your blog posts. :) I do understand coming home from vacating to housework and more work. :)
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks!
DeleteMount Laundry is pretty daunting. I've decided to ignore it for a while. ;)
Good to have you back Dana! The only fast food I like is Taco Bell. Not sure why since I love REAL Mexican and it's not even close...
ReplyDeleteThanks, Stacie!
DeleteI agree: Mexican is my favorite, and even though Taco Bell is a poor substitute, I still love it. :)
i am so happy you are back--i keep checking to see if you had found a place to post---hope you had a good time :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm glad to be back. :)
DeleteWe had a really good time. I wish I could have posted while I was gone, but I never did make it to the library. Too much visiting! ;)
Welcome home! Since you've been fast-fooding, you probably have all your fingers intact, which means you should be able to type like the wind.
ReplyDeleteHaha! Yes, I guess that's one advantage of fast food! :)
DeleteWelcome back, Dana! Totally agree - - vacations are so much fun, but home is so much better!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely. :)
Deletei know the feeling! glad you made it safely home =)
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see you back at home, safe and sound. So now you get to unpack, right? Worse than packing! I expect you caught up on blogs in less than a day! I've missed your sweet comments!
ReplyDeleteIf only I could get caught up that fast! ;) Of course, if I just decided *not* to unpack, I could spend a lot more time reading blogs. Hmm...
Deletewelcome back!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou were missed! You're right, though...nothing beats getting back to your own bed. Even with the laundry and the mess...there's no place like home. Dorothy had it right. :-)
ReplyDeleteShe sure did!
DeleteYes, I have had my share of cold fast food over the last two trips. HOpe it is better in New Zealand!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're back!
Welcome back! Relax, enjoy the smell of fresh laundry, and tell us about it when you have a few minutes. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! Fresh laundry smell is the best. :)
DeleteGood to see you back, safe and sound.
ReplyDeleteTell all of us about your adventures and travels, ok?
Thanks! I'm glad to be back. :)
DeleteWelcome back! Always good to go on vacation and always good to come home! That was a long time to be gone, although I'm sure you enjoyed the time with your family, and that was a long car ride coming and going1! Glad to have you back among us! Missed you!
ReplyDeletebetty
Missed you, too! I'm glad to be back. :)
DeleteWelcome back. When I was little, I used to spend five minutes running up and down our staircase when I returned home from holiday. There was something familiar about those stairs that cemented the fact I was home...
ReplyDeleteWhat a great memory!
DeleteWelcome back! I never like being gone from home for more than a couple nights. It's always good to get back home to my stuff. And where I can fart without someone calling the cops.
ReplyDeleteMost times.
Ha! ;)
DeleteWelcome back! I know what you mean about those fast food joints. We had our share of them, too on our trip to California. Good luck with the laundry!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sherry. :)
DeleteWe're about to head off on our cross country at the end of this week. We'll be seeing a lot of fast food, although I'm trying to take some healthier choices with us, to stay on track AND to be thrifty. Glad you're back, Dana!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Fran. I'm getting to your comment late—it's August 10—but I hope you're having a wonderful trip!
