Sunday inspiration

Happy Sunday, friends!

Today's inspiration comes from an artist known as Lord Colin O'Neal. I learned of his work quite recently, and I immediately fell in love with his style. You can find his Web site here (although it doesn't seem to be live at this time) and his deviantART page here.

The first video is a short time-lapse of O'Neal and his work on a water and ink painting of artist Frida Kahlo. The second video is a bit longer, but if you enjoy the music of Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, and/or Jimi Hendrix, you will probably enjoy seeing O'Neal's tribute to them. I know I did.

    It's amazing how they can splotch color here and there and come up with an incredible finished product!

    I can throw watery paint too, but I don't think I can control where it goes. Now how did he make sure the paint would run this way this far? And all this explains why HE's the artist and I'm not.

    Out of all the basic art (charcoal, pencil, pen, paint, chalk, etc) I think paint has to be the most difficult to do. Its hard to control everything about a brush, where the others would be at least slightly easier to use. But I'm not an artist and I can't even always color inside the lines of a coloring book sooo... haha
