Six-word Saturday

A whole lotta nothin' goin' on...

and that's just the way I want it! After a fun (but busy) week full of commitments, today is my day to relax, and that's just what I'm going to do. I'll read and write and maybe watch a favorite show or two. This is my kind of Saturday. ☺

Wishing you all a fun and relaxing weekend.

Six-word Saturday

Looking forward to a relaxing weekend.

In April, I participated in two writing challenges—the Blogging from A to Z Challenge and the Pulitzer Remix. For the A to Z Challenge, I had to write twenty-six alphabet-themed blog posts, and for the Pulitzer Remix, I was required to write one found poem per day from John Updike's Rabbit is Rich

Although I'm now exhausted, I had a wonderful time with both challenges! This was my second year participating in the A to Z, which is a great way to meet and interact with other bloggers. The Pulitzer Remix was a new project and a lot of fun, and I feel honored to be among the eighty-five poets asked to participate.

This weekend, though, I think I need a little rest. I pulled more than a few all-nighters last month, so I'm looking forward to relaxing and enjoying this gorgeous sunny weekend with my family.

How about you? What are your plans for the weekend?

Wishing you all a wonderful Saturday. ☺

Six-word Saturday

Craziness over. It's time to relax!

Between late November and late February, life is really busy for our family. We pack a lot of events and celebrations into those three months, beginning with Thanksgiving and ending with our son's birthday, which was last Thursday. Thankfully, his birthday party today marks the end of the craziness, at least for a little while. Whew!

Wishing you all a relaxing weekend. ☺

Real

Today's 100 words:

I took the night off yesterday. After a long couple of days, I needed to relax. Instead of writing, I watched five episodes of The Real World: Boston, which debuted in 1997, back when The Real World series was about very different, very real people learning to find commonalities and coexist. From what I understand, nowadays the show is more about beautiful young people with large breasts and six-pack abs who spend their days sitting in hot tubs and drinking. It's not real life--or at least it's not the type of reality I can appreciate.

Oh, my aching legs!

This is the first time I've had a chance to sit down since I read and commented on blogs this morning. (I'm caught up. Yay!)

Why is it that holidays are the opposite of relaxing? There's always so much to do, and somehow I always manage to leave most of it for the last minute. Today I've been to the grocery store for more Easter basket stuff (twice), washed everyone's dressy church clothes and found all the accessories (shoes, tights, ties, barrettes...), prepped tomorrow's French toast (it stays in the fridge all night and bakes for an hour in the morning), filled baskets and plastic eggs, and double-checked that I have everything I need for the Easter dinner I'm cooking tomorrow evening. And that's just the holiday stuff! Those everyday chores--dishes, laundry, cooking meals, cleaning--didn't go away, as much as I wish they had. I'm unbelievably tired and so glad to be able to sit down right now. After I post this, I'm taking my tired legs to the bathtub, and I think I'll bring along a glass of wine and a book. It's "me" time now!

Happy Easter!

Another long day means...

popcorn, TV, and bed.

Hoping for a more productive day--writing and otherwise--tomorrow.

An unexpected day off

I know, moms never really get a day off, so technically, I'm still "at work." However, I declared today a snow day when I woke up this morning and saw all the snow blanketing the yard--with the promise of much more to come. I was supposed to take the kids to story time, but my friend called to tell how horrible her drive this morning had been, so here I am--here we are--at home.

This week has been so busy that it feels good to have a leisurely (if noisy) day. Right now the kids are playing with their remote control car out in the living room, and I've been getting some of my chores done: the store list is written for our grocery shopping trip tonight, I've completed my registration for the Barnes and Noble Kids' Club, I've done a little writing. Overall, it's been a productive morning, and I'm enjoying not having to rush around the way I have so much of this week. It's also nice to be able to write this post in the morning rather than late at night.

Tomorrow we'll be heading to Sears to have the kids' pictures taken, and I need to get their clothes ready and check to see if my daughter's shoes still fit. Other than that--and some cleaning via the instructions at Flylady--I plan on having a relaxing, stay-inside-the-house kind of day.
