Currently...

I've seen this fun idea on several people's blogs this week—like here at Katy Upperman's and here at Jessica Love's—so I thought I'd take the opportunity to post my own "Currently..." update today.

Loving: The two hours of quiet time I have each day when my daughter takes her nap and my son is at school. I'd forgotten how peaceful the house could be.

Reading: Jen Lancaster's memoir Bright Lights, Big Ass: A Self-Indulgent, Surly Ex-Sorority Girl's Guide
to Why It Often Sucks in the City, or Who Are These Idiots and Why Do They All Live Next Door to Me? I've read all but Lancaster's newest memoir—I'm on the hold list for that one—and have loved them all. She's laugh-out-loud funny, and I can never resist her crazy, extra-long titles!

Watching: Greek. I'm almost finished with season one and can't wait to watch the rest. I'm well past my school years, but I still love watching shows about college. Those were the days!

Is it time for my catnap yet?

Thinking about: The fact that I've been too tired to write since my son started school. I've been getting up at 5 a.m. to pack his lunch and have a cup of coffee. Then it's go, go, go all day until I collapse into bed at night. One of these days I'll get it together enough to write during that two-hour span when my daughter naps, but so far all I've wanted to do is take my own nap.

Anticipating: The season premiere of Gossip Girl. (October 8!)

Wishing: That I could figure out an important plot point in my WIP.

Making me happy: The fact that my son LOVES kindergarten. ☺

How are you doing today?

  1. Love the posting! Great idea. I am still waiting for the caffeine to kick in, like the cat waiting on some cat nip. :)

  5. So happy that your son loves kindergarten! I make good use of my son's nap. He's enjoying preschool too, but still has a little separation anxiety. Okay, I confess, both of us do!

    1. Around here, I'm the one with the separation anxiety. I still have trouble watching him get on the bus every morning—he's such a big boy now—but I love when he comes home and tells me all about his day. :)

    1. Thanks. :) I didn't get my nap, but I was able to sort through some recipes I've been meaning to go through for ages. (And I sat down while I was doing it, so I feel rested—sort of.) :)

  7. I think a catnap sounds real good. I've been cleaning and emptying closets, and taking pictures off walls. We're getting our whole house painted. What a job! Anyway, take a catnap when you can. You'll feel better and more motivated to write.

    1. "What a job" is right! I can't even imagine doing all that work... Good luck with it.

I missed my nap today. Maybe tomorrow. :)

  8. I LOVE Greek! I watched it all during my exams a couple of years ago...probably why I didn't get the best grades in the world, but oh, Cappie.

  9. I think I need to read that book, based on title alone!
I love this meme, and I think I might borrow it next week.

  10. I need to remember the long crazy title of that book. :)
Glad your son loves school. Those first few years really establish a love of learning, I think. Whoohoo! Now if Mom can just get some sleep... ;)

  11. Yay for happy kindergartners! I have one too, and it's such a relief! Good luck getting settled into your routine. I bet once you do, you'll be racking up the words. Hope you're having a great weekend, Dana. :)

  13. I'm so glad your son loves school! And I know you are loving that time alone. I'm exhausted just reading the title of Lancaster's book. :-) How did the brownies turn out?
