Happy Sunday!
I've always been a big fan of Johnny Cash. My parents used to listen to his music a lot when I was young, and I grew to love his distinctive voice. As I got older, I admired him even more for his strong faith in God.
About a year ago, I learned about The Johnny Cash Project, a collaborative effort to create "a living portrait of the Man In Black." Anyone who wishes to can go to the project's Web site (www.thejohnnycashproject.com) and create a portrait of Johnny, and then those portraits are integrated into a video for Cash's "Aint' No Grave." The video changes as more and more people contribute their artwork; the one I've posted here is just one version. If you'd like to see the most recent version and/or contribute your own portrait, visit The Johnny Cash Project.
I hope today is a great start to your week!
Very cool I have seen & heard about this project but not very artsy so good for you on joining in I am impressed. I change my blog name no more footsteps for Janice new name same Janice have a great week Dana!
ReplyDeleteI haven't contributed any artwork, but I'm thinking about it.
DeleteHope you're having a nice week!
Such an odd, but compelling, way to make a video. He really does have a distinctive voice. Fascinating video and love the song. :)
ReplyDelete"Compelling" is a good word for it!
DeleteI read about that! Great posting and my dad still listens to his music. Great video on the project.
ReplyDeleteI agree: it's pretty cool!
DeleteI never cared for Johnny Cash, but after the movie and REALLY listening to the lyrics, I had to admit he and June created some great songs.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen the movie yet. It's been sitting in my Netflix queue for a long, long time. Maybe it's time to bump it up!
DeleteI love the movie "Walk the Line." I don't care for country music, but I love Cash's story. Thinking of you! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks, mare. That means a lot.
DeleteIt's definitely creative!
ReplyDeletei will have to share this with robyn's dillon, he is a huge johnny cash fan and a great artist too--thanks dana :)
ReplyDeleteHope he likes it!
DeleteThe only song of his I know is 'A Boy Named Sue'. I'm thinking about a story based on it about a robot and call it 'A Bot Made Of Glue'.
ReplyDeleteLOL :)
DeleteAbout "A Boy Named Sue": That was one of my favorites of all the ones my parents listened to.
When I was a kid, I didn't like Johnny Cash. Now that I'm older, I really like his music (especially Walk the Line).
ReplyDeleteTrivia: when I was in the Navy, our winter blue uniforms (which were actually all black-except the white hats) were nicknamed "Johnny Cashes."
So you also—except for the hat—were a Man in Black. :)
DeleteThat's awesome. Johnny rocks. I love his old stuff but I really like how when he got older he would cover all these newer songs. Nothing in the world comes close the beauty of Johnny Cash covering 9-Inch Nails.
ReplyDeleteYes, "Hurt" is amazing! I posted the video several months ago. Love it!
