If you visit my blog with any regularity, you might have noticed that I removed the
NaNoWriMo Web Badge from my sidebar today. Sadly, I ended up hitting a brick wall early in the month, and although I was excited about my story, I could never gain any momentum. This is the first year I've failed at NaNo, so I feel a little bummed out about that, but I really like my story idea and will definitely continue writing it on my own time.
To those of you who have already finished or are still going strong: Congratulations! And to everyone else: Happy Tuesday!
I have a feeling that you are not alone, Dana! Happy Tuesday to you as well!
ReplyDeleteI'm willing to bet you're right. Thanks. :)
DeleteAww, it's a shame to hit that brick wall but at least you tried! That still counts for something. :D
ReplyDeleteI've got a decent start on a fun idea, so I feel good about that. :)
DeleteI started a writing challenge this past year and lasted oh maybe 2 days. Just write your story - you don't need no stinkin' badge. HA!
ReplyDelete:D
DeleteHugs! I didn't even attempt NaNo this year, so I understand the sense of sadness. But you are amazing, and just make sure you focus on the fun idea!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jen. :)
DeleteHey, well done for getting as far as you did. I decided to give up on mine today, mostly because I was starting to get bored, but I enjoyed what I did. Great that you've got a good story to work on though. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks. Good job with yours! Do you think you'll go back to it?
DeleteWell done for having a bash. I didn't even attempt it knowing that November is usually too busy with other things.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sally. :)
DeleteI was trying to do a half-NaNo, and it's looking doubtful that I'll make it. But, I still wrote more than I usually do in a month! Congrats on what you did accomplish!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Congrats to you as well!
DeleteDana!!! I've missed you! It's been so long since I last came by your blog. How are things with you? Are you feeling happier? You were having some difficult times when I was last around on here. I hope you're doing ok now.
ReplyDeleteJust a little comment now to say hi - I'm commuting for university at the moment and have just got home from a crazy 17 hour day! but knew your blog would make me smile :)
It's so good to see you here again! Things are much better in my life; thanks for asking. :)
DeleteThat's a long day! I'm glad my blog makes you smile.
I feel your pain! I dropped out a long, long time ago. It's okay. We'll make up for it writing best sellers in 2013!
ReplyDeleteHMG
Definitely! :)
DeleteI'm impressed that you've gone this far. I've attempted it only once, and gave up fairly early. Have fun with the rest of your story. A good story is a good story, no matter what month it's written in.
ReplyDeletethe dreaded brick wall in writing. I've hit it so many times.
ReplyDeleteYep—and I know I'll hit it many more times.
DeleteSorry to hear about your brick wall. But I'm glad you're not giving up on it. And you've already proved you can do it, so this just wasn't the year. Many more opportunities to come though.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Suzi. :)
DeleteGlad to hear that you're not giving up on it. Maybe set a personal goal for it, maybe so many words a week. Take some deep breaths and master the goal. I have a story that is taking a nap right now. In the middle of the research for it, I seemed to burn out.
ReplyDeleteGood advice. Thanks!
DeleteDon't feel bad, Dana. I didn't even start this year. I had other things to focus on and I feel I've been accomplishing things that need attention. I hate when I start something and don't finish which is why I didn't. Don't beat yourself up. You have a start on a story that could really take off and will probably become something that makes you proud!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Fran. :)
