Six-word Saturday

My weekend: writing and more writing!

Next week marks the beginning of the month-long Blogging from A to Z Challenge, and while I'm ready with my theme, I'm woefully behind in writing my posts. Yikes!

Monday is also the start of National Poetry month, and I'm honored to be one of the eighty-five poets selected to participate in the Pulitzer Remix Project, which is sponsored by The Found Poetry Review. I posted about my involvement with the project last Thursday, but for those of you who didn't see that post, here's how the project works: Each of us will be creating found poetry from the eighty-five Pulitzer-prize winning works of fiction, then posting one poem each day on the Pulitzer Remix site. I'll be working with John Updike's Rabbit is Rich and have chosen to write thirty haiku. I've been having a great time writing my poems and hope to have them all ready to go by Sunday night.

If you need me this weekend, you'll know where to find me. ;)

Wishing you all a wonderful Saturday. ☺

  1. What a wonderful (and scary to me!) project to be working on. All the best in your haiku writing!

  2. This all sounds a bit frantic. Have a beer, put your feet up, watch some TV - then everything will look better.....
Have a great weekend. Try not to overdo things

  4. Best Wishes for your TWO projects, Dana. I admire you. Plus I may come visit a little, especially to read your poetry. I write a little ditty poem (once in a while longer) for Sunday's on my other blog. I am sure I wouldn't have time for one-a-day for a month and handle the commenting, etc.

I did a library request for Rabbit is Rich as I've not read that one, or his other Rabbit books. The Amazon review said "The time is 1979: Skylab is falling, gas lines are lengthening, and double-digit inflation coincides with a deflation of national self-confidence...

As it turned out, those were the GOOD OLD DAYS. Now WE are retired with a slight inflation, unemployment, war and threat of another, and less than one percent interest on our retirement savings instead of the the double digit interest on them back then. (My B.S. was in economics, I still watch these things very closely. And as a retiree now they are very close to home.)

    !!! HAPPY EASTER, DANA !!!

  6. Yeah, I did the Poem-A-Day thing a couple Aprils ago & it almost killed me. This is not the year to try it again, though I'll certainly be keeping my hand in & also reading/responding to others as much as possible.
On the bright side, I've got a few pieces due for publication early this month (One in The Orange Room-tomorrow, I think-, and one on Every Day Poets next Tuesday. Links will be up at Scrambled, Not Fried to remind you.

good luck w/ the A-Z thing.

  7. I am so not ready this year for the A-Z. I have a theme, and a topic written on a scrap piece of paper for each letter. The only one completed is for Monday. :/ Can't wait to read your postings!

  8. Heavens, it sounds Hectic! I have no idea what the A-Z challenge is so I'll have to pop back and look. I'm not wild about deadlines. When I get enthused I don't want to stop but deadlines can make me panicky.
Find time for Easter, Dana. I believe Elaine pointed out the benefits of chocolate.
