Six-word Saturday

Taking day off: Mom's gone fishin'.

Well, not really. I'm not sure the kids or the hubby would be too thrilled about that. ;)

What I am doing, though, is setting aside a part of the day for me. Often, my interests take a back burner to all the other things I need to do each day—something I'm sure all parents can relate to. My projects—the things I do just for me, like writing—get pushed into whatever pockets of time I can find. I might write a paragraph while I wait for the spaghetti to cook or read while I'm folding the laundry. And while these pockets of time can be productive, today I've decided to do something different and put me on the schedule. That hour I plan to write is penciled in—and I can't wait!

Wishing you all a happy Saturday. ☺

  1. Dana this is great that you're doing this. We all deserve "me time" - especially mothers (the hardest job on earth). I hope you have a wonderful time today with your well-deserved you time.

  5. Good! You should take time for yourself on a consistent basis. It's so important to take care of yourself too. Now if only I could take that advice too...

  6. Yay for You! Mom's are important too! We need to make time for ourselves and our interests. Although we are moms and wives, we are also individuals who need down time and creative outlets. It's good for our mental health, and makes us happier people to be around!:-)

  8. Ooh, by now you will have been lost in your world for ages, Dana. I hate how the need for a meal or clean tshirt always interrupts "my" life. Good for you.

  14. I hope your time is enjoyable and productive. Be forewarned, though: you're on the slippery slope toward total slackerhood.

  15. I think it's important for both you *and* your kids/hubby to take some me time. You need to breath and for them it's good to be aware of it that you are an individual too and that life isn't just about them ;). Not easy though!

  21. Wonderful, Dana, very good! No day off for Jim today though (I did sneak in comments to most readers-I don't know how I missed yours, you were first).

I am teaching Sunday school tomorrow and have been working on my lesson all day. It is on 1 Timothy, chapter 2. I have more prepared than the class time I have so I'll cross my fingers, and pray.

A piece of advice that I learned from my NASA boss I'll pass to you (I always hoped he was saying it tongue in cheek), "Write faster, Dana."
