Happy Wednesday, friends. It's been a long time! Thank you to all who have sent emails and posted comments. I appreciate them so much.
Well, a lot has happened since I last posted, the most notable being the birth of my daughter. She was born on April 3, a few days earlier than expected. Since then, I've been discovering just how difficult it is to go from caring for two kids to caring for three. I'd always heard that it's harder to go from one to two, but that definitely hasn't been my experience. ☺
I'm sorry I haven't posted before now. The baby has been sleeping through the night since she was about a month old, which is indeed a blessing, but the trade-off is that she wants to be held all day. I've gotten next to nothing done for the past ten weeks. But even though my house is a mess and I'm behind on my art and writing and blogging and emailing, I'm happy. I know how fast these months fly by, and I'm doing all I can to truly live in the moment. As the Aerosmith refrain goes, I don't wanna miss a thing. ☺
I don't want to miss anything else in the blogosphere either. My goal is to start writing here as often as I can. It might take me a while to get back to posting several times a week, but I'll make it there eventually. I've missed you all, and I'm eager to start catching up on what you've been doing. I may not be able to visit your blogs daily for a while, but I will soon. In the meantime, please let me know in the comments how you've been. I can't wait to hear!
Well, my "free" time has ended, and I'm off to get the baby now. Wishing you all a wonderful Wednesday. ☺
Yay! Congratulations to you all - especially Aria! Our first was born in March - Digory - and I think you're a hero for looking after three!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Chloe. It's definitely harder than I thought it would be. Congrats to you as well!
DeleteSo glad you are back and that the baby is here and well!! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I feel like I'm coming home. :)
DeleteYay....so glad to see your post!!! Congrats on Baby Girl ...name ? Aria?...if so...very pretty! You are such a wise Mom to make the most of every moment with new baby...they do grow so fast and time flies even when they sleep all night and want to be held all day. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteWow...lots has happened...April AtoZ...missed you...it was fun and exhausting, too. Made it through for year #3. Made May a month of reorganizing studio after selling my big machine. Now out of the quilting business....I'm good with it, too. Working on UseIt or LoseIt Collectibles...right now in the Jewelry Mode. Come see when you can...midnight ought to be a good time....LOL!
Again...many happy days and congratulations,
Sue at CollectInTexas Gal
Thanks, Sue. I'll definitely enjoy her!
DeleteCongrats on making it through the A to Z! Good luck with your new adventures. :)
Congratulations, I'm very glad that all is well!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Leovi!
DeleteHi Dana, welcome back and congratulations!! That's so cool--a baby girl. We want to see pictures soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Unfortunately, I never post pics of my kids online. I'm one of those paranoid mothers. LOL I can tell you this, though: she's beautiful. :D
DeleteHappy Thursday!
So happy for you!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Monica!
DeleteCongratulations! So very happy to hear the good news. And a perfect song choice for the explanation of your time away. I finished my 3rd A to Z. My husband and I went to Washington DC in March and I decided if I came back with pictures for each letter I'd do the A-Z. I ended up writing too much and got way behind on everything else. Then I decided to finish the 23 Mobile Things challenge (exploring the potential of mobile tools for delivering library services) and finished my final post 5 hours before the completion deadline on Sunday. I set up a separate blog on Tumblr for that so Donna's New Day has been pretty bare since April ended. Tomorrow I have off work and was planning on a catch up date but my dad bought a new computer and he can't figure out so I'll be spending the day over there...Have fun being with your baby girl.
ReplyDeleteWow! You've certainly been busy! Sounds like you've had a great couple of months. :)
DeleteThanks so much!
Congratulations Dana!!! Yipeee
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dawna!
DeleteI was just thinking about you the other day! I wanted to see how you were but I wasn't sure how I would get in contact with you. I'm so happy for you though. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rachel! I hope things have been going well for you.
DeleteWelcome back, Dana (and all the little Daily Doses hovering in the background). Like Sue, I did the A to Z April Challenge and really enjoyed it this year. I'm also doing the 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks challenge which is about to kill me but it's my choice -- I'm focusing on my oldest ancestors by catching up on research for them, so it's been good although time-consuming. Life is good here, too.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Wendy. (One of the little Daily Doses is screaming right now. LOL)
DeleteI'm glad life is good for you. Congrats on completing the A to Z! I'm looking forward to reading more posts from your 52 Weeks challenge. The research you do just amazes me!
Happy Thursday. :)
Glad to see you back! It's being a year now since I have started blogging and continuing so far. Blogging is indeed amazing.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteCongrats on your blogoversary! Blogging is definitely amazing. I've missed it so much.
Awww on the new bundle. :) Have missed your posting, but understand and def true- hold onto every minute of it that you can! They grow up fast!
ReplyDeleteThanks! They sure do grow up fast.
DeleteLooking forward to catching up with you!
Congratulations on the birth of your daughter!!! Always wonderful when a new life is in the world. And also wonderful that she sleeps soundly :) which hopefully means mommy gets to sleep soundly ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Keith! I sleep pretty well, although I need to start forcing myself to go to bed earlier. I'm always tempted to stay up late and do the stuff I don't get to do during the day. :)
DeleteCongrats on the birth of your daughter, Dana! I think you'll eventually get into a routine with the three and consider it a "piece of cake". In the meantime, just go along with the ride and enjoy the time bonding and being with the kids :)
ReplyDeletebetty
Thanks, Betty. ♥
DeleteWhen I saw your comment over at my blog this morning, I was like "Yeh, Dana's back!" :)
ReplyDeleteSo glad things are going well and that you're enjoying your new little one and your life in general.

Aw, thanks. I'm so glad to be back! Can't wait to catch up with your posts. :)
DeleteCongratulations! Glad she's sleeping through the night, that's great :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
Deleteyay!! i have been checking to see if you were back--so happy for you---enjoy it all :)
ReplyDeleteI will, Lynn. Thanks!
DeleteI was just thinking about you yesterday, wondering how things were going. Enjoy every minute of your newborn, you are correct that these years will fly by! I'm sure your son looks very big now, compared to the new one. :-) So happy for you!
ReplyDeleteHe really does. Even my four-year-old looks huge now! Thanks, Mare. :)
DeleteCongrats! That's great she's sleeping through the night for you, tho rough on the constant holding. Do you have one of the baby slings? That might help free your hands up! ;)
ReplyDeleteI definitely need to get one of those slings. I've heard a lot of good things about them. I'm sure the rest of my family would be happy if I had two hands to make dinner again. LOL
DeleteCongrats on the new baby
ReplyDeleteThanks, Adam!
DeleteCongratulations on your baby! It's soo nice to have you back! :) And sleeping through the night after one month - that's impressive. I nanny for a little 8 month old and she just started sleeping through the night. Enjoy your little baby time! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Krista! I'm so glad to be back. I'll definitely be enjoying my time with baby. :)
DeleteCongratulations! My 2nd son was a great sleeper, but like your daughter it meant he wanted entertaining ALL day! Housework can definitely wait :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Annalisa. I agree: housework can definitely wait. However, I wonder what's going through my husband's head when he comes home from work and sees the state of the house. LOL
DeleteAww, congrats! And spending time with her and your other children is important, especially those early years. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! Yes, I agree about spending time with them. I admit that sometimes all I want to do is go off by myself to write or make art, but I know how fast these years fly by, so I'm doing all I can to cherish them. :)
DeleteCongratulations and thanks for sharing your news! I've been making a baby of my own, but it's a bistro, not a tiny human. ; )
ReplyDelete:) That's awesome! Congratulations to you as well!
DeleteMuch congrats on your new bundle of joy. Enjoy and boogie boogie.
ReplyDeleteOh, I will. :) Thanks!
DeleteI've heard people say that going from 2 to 3 was easier than 1 too 2, but I guess everybody's experiences are different. I only have two, and I won't be going to three, so I have no input on that.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!
I heard that, too—and I couldn't disagree more! :) Sometimes I wonder if it's just my age. I don't think I'm as patient as I used to be. LOL
DeleteThanks, Suzi!
Congratulations on your new baby! Glad to hear you are making the most of all the precious moments - my youngest is now seven months and I can't believe how quickly that time has gone. Would be nice if we could slow it down sometimes...
ReplyDeleteOh, I agree: It would be so great to slow down the good moments. :)
DeleteThanks so much, and congrats on your baby, too. Enjoy!
My brother-in-law once said, "When you have one child, you have one. When you have two, you have two. When you have three, you may as well have ten!" Maybe it's because as long as parents have two children or less, the adults outnumber the kids!
ReplyDeleteThat's a good point. I DO feel outnumbered! LOL
DeleteWell a huge congratulations to you and your family!! That is awesome news. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
DeleteSo great to have you back! Congratulations on the birth of your daughter! I'm sure you have your hands full. Enjoy your time with her. They do grow up fast!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sherry. I'm so happy to be back!
DeleteCongratulations on you're little daughter. She must really be a new bundle of joy in your life.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to see you back. Thanks for sharing the music video.
You're welcome. :) Thanks for the congrats!
DeleteOh Dana, I'm insanely jealous and very happy for you at the same time. Number three is what I call the Chaos Factor. If you can survive through that addition, you can do anything. True story. =) Enjoy this time.
ReplyDeleteChaos Factor! That's perfect! There's definitely a lot more chaos around here. :)
DeleteWelcome back, Dana and mega congrats. So happy for you. I've probably mentioned a gazillion times, we have 6 mos old twin grand babies.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Sandra. I can't even imagine having two babies at once. I bet you're enjoying those grandkids! :)
DeleteI was delighted to see your name pop up in someone's comments and realize that you are back among us. I'm thrilled to come here and discover that your daughter has safely joined the family. My daughter's birthday is also April 3rd, she will be 40 next year... YIKES that makes me... OLD! :-)) Yay for you for living in the moment and enjoying every one of them, I can attest to how fast they grow up and are on their own! I'll be looking forward to reading more here in the weeks to come. I don't get around as often as I'd like to, but I know that when I do there will always be something good to watch, look at or read! :-)
DeleteYou are definitely not old!
DeleteYou're so sweet to say that. I'm so glad to be back. I hope to start posting more often really soon. :)
Congratulations! (And she shares my birthday.) :-) Good luck to you in catching up with everything.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I hope you had a great birthday!
