Happy Thursday, friends.
Ever since writer Doris Lessing's recent death, I haven't been able to get one of her most famous quotes out of my mind:
"Whatever you're meant to do, do it now. The conditions are always impossible."
For me, these truly are words to live by. We can all come up with excuses not to follow our dreams right now: I'm too old. I'm too young. I'll wait until the kids are out on their own. I don't have time.... But as Lessing said, we're always going to face obstacles when it comes to doing whatever it is we're meant to be doing. There's never going to be a perfect time. The only time is now.
I feel like I'm finally doing what I need to do to make my own dreams come true. How about you? Are you doing what you're meant to do?
Wishing you all a wonderful Thursday. ☺

And this is why I love Tuesdays...
Happy Tuesday, friends. ☺
I don't know about you, but I love Tuesdays. I love that Tuesday is one of the two days of the week that my daughter doesn't go to preschool. Not only does that mean I get to have more mother-daughter time, but it also means that I don't have to go anywhere unless I want to. I love stay-at-home days!
Another reason I love Tuesday is because it's not Monday.☺ Monday, while technically the second day of the week, always feels like the first day to me, and it always seems to drag...
Tuesday is also great because of songs like this one, which somehow don't sound quite as good to me any other day of the week:
Lyrics here.
"There's no time to lose, I heard her say
Catch your dreams before they slip away
Dying all the time
Lose your dreams
And you will lose your mind.
Ain't life unkind?"
And in light of those lyrics, I love Tuesdays—particularly this Tuesday—because it's a new day to follow my dream. NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) starts on November 1, and I'm all signed up and ready to write. Next year at this time, I'll have a six-month old baby, so who knows if I'll be able to participate then. Instead, to paraphrase the Stones, I'm seizing the day—catching my dreams before they slip away. And that's as good a reason as any to love today. ☺
How about you? What do you love about Tuesdays? Carpe diem, friends!
Wishing you all a beautiful day.

H is for (The) Happiness Project
Happy Tuesday!
Today's video inspiration comes from Gretchen Rubin, author of The Happiness Project and Happier at Home. Rubin has said that "the days are long, but the years are short," and I think there's a lot of truth to that. Although this video focuses on parenthood, I think it also serves as a reminder to all of us that our happiness should be found in the present. The future is important, of course, but so is today, and we should focus on the things that matter to us right now and enjoy each moment we have. I find that very inspiring.
What makes you happy? Are you focusing on those things today?
Many of you know that I'm a writer—a poet who enjoys writing haiku (another "h" word!). If you're interested in learning a bit more about types of haiku, please see my short post from last year's Blogging from A to Z Challenge. And once again, I want to let you know that my haiku for the Pulitzer Remix project is up at the site. You can find it here. Again, I'd like to thank those of you who have been reading and commenting. I know I say that every day, but your comments truly do mean a lot, and I appreciate them.
