Stretching in bed as early morning sunlight streams through the window, then getting up to a quiet house and time for reading, writing, sipping coffee in solitude.
Listening to the kids playing library in the living room, checking out books, "reading" them to each other, laughing and enjoying themselves.
Late-night writing sessions in a silent house, words seeming to flow from my fingertips.
So many blessings—and so many things to be thankful for.
What are you thankful for today?
I'm thankful I woke up.
ReplyDeleteEverything else is gravy.
Yeah, that's a good one. :)
DeleteEven though I truly don't believe a woman must have a man to be "complete," I am still thankful that my girls have found someone. And if those guys ever come through with the ring, I'll be even happier.
ReplyDeleteI imagine that someday I'll feel comforted to know that my kids have found someone to share their lives with.
DeleteI'm grateful that my friend feels she can just drop in on me anytime, i.e. this morning when she is on her way to a training course. She looked gorgeous, full make-up, great hair, nice outfit, bling shoes, painted nails and me - well I was still eating a bowl of cereal, bed hair and in my nightwear. We enjoyed a cup of coffee in the garden for half an hour before she had to leave. We've been friends long enough that it doesn't matter what state of dress or undress we are in. It was meant to be because five minutes before she arrived I was going to text her and then realised I would have to put my phone on charge! Enjoy your creative times.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sally.
DeleteI have one good friend that I'm comfortable with in the way you described above. Friends like that are so important.
Today I am grateful for my waking up to a kitchen with no dishes to do, thanks to my husband, for my oldest "reading" Green Eggs and Ham to me at 7:00 am while I was still in bed (and for still being in bed at 7:00) and for the jellybean song my two-year old made up while shopping. You're right, sometimes it's all about the little things.
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely things to be thankful for! Yes, I think that in the long run, the little things do mean more. :)
DeleteI'm thankful that your morning started out the opposite of mine. But I guess that's more for you. I guess I'm just thankful that I woke up this morning at all. Waking up dead isn't fun. But the boys were up at 5:00 and the kittens and cat were awake and loud, and Hubby was up and getting ready and it was all way too early. No sunshine to be seen. But at least I woke up, right? Oh, and Hubby had made me a pot of coffee.
ReplyDeleteI, for one, am happy that you woke up. You and the rest of my blog friends mean so much to me. :)
DeleteI'm jealous that your Hubby made you coffee. I had to make my own. ;)
I'm really thankful for this post - - a reminder to all of us to be aware and grateful of the little things that make life so worthwhile. Thank you, Dana!
ReplyDeleteAw, you're sweet. Thanks. :)
Deletehow true...life is so much sweeter when we count our blessings...and I think when we stop to notice our blessings we are all amazed at just how many we have...
ReplyDeleteYou're so right about that. :)
DeleteBeautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhile I was running in the park this morning, I saw several mothers with young children in strollers... I was grateful mine are in school... ~_~
Haha! Loved this!
DeleteHope you're having a wonderful day. :)
I, too, am grateful that I was able to be a SAHM and raise my own children (they're adults now.) I'm grateful that two of the three are in church, and have a faith system that guides them (still praying about that third one!) I voted yesterday in our local elections, and I'm so grateful I live in a country where that is possible.
ReplyDeleteSo wonderful! We have much to be thankful for. :)
DeleteI love that your kids play library! My kids run away from books screaming, horror-film style... unless I read to them, then they love books.
ReplyDeleteI spent the afternoon with my sister and walking in gale-force wind (well, not quite) - therefore I am grateful for my family, for the area I live in and for the way the waves crashed across the road and drenched the people walking ahead of us so that we knew how to avoid the same happening to us!
I love your description of your kids. Too cute!
DeleteIt sounds like those people in front of you were a real blessing. :)
I woke up thankful for the chilly morning in the 50s that helped me sleep so well and long. Karma was purring round my feet and telling me to get moving because she'd been patiently waiting for her morning canned food and pumpkin. The sun was shining and I was just glad to be alive. The feeling has been with me all day. Obviously you were feeling quite similar today. Wonderful! :):)
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful day--and I, too, love those chilly mornings.
DeleteLovely post. I'm thankful for the cooler weather. I know it won't last - it's only August - but it's such a relief from the heat of last month.
ReplyDeleteOh, I agree. I filled up the wading pool for the kids today, and they wanted to get out because they were too cold! I love this weather, though. I always say that 75 degrees is warm enough for me. :)
DeleteBeautiful post and beautiful picture! I'm thankful for my family, my friends, and all of the blessings in my life!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sherry. :)
DeleteI love how positive this post is, you are right there are so many things to be thankful for!
ReplyDeleteI've found that it's so easy to focus on the negative. I'm trying to recognize all the good things in my life. :)
DeleteLittle things mean a lot. I'm grateful my kids still love me even though they're teenagers.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good one. I hope it'll be true for me as well. :)
DeleteI am thankful for all of the little things; most of all for each day that I wake up and start a new memory. :) Love the posting!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful way to look at the start of each day--as the beginning of a new memory!
DeleteI hope all is well! Lots of life events for me lately, too, but it's all good. I'm just tired. But I love looking for the positive things within, as always. And this blog post made me smile. :)
ReplyDeleteThings are going much better now, thanks. I'm happy to hear that you're doing well. Glad the post made you smile. :)
DeleteLove this, Dana! Thank you for the reminder to be thankful for all of the blessings. (It's more in my nature to panic over the what-ifs.)
ReplyDeleteLovely.
Bless you!
I'm a worrier by nature and have to remind myself to stop and be grateful. :)
DeleteA freezer full of made from scratch pancake/waffle/muffin and biscuit mixes. Does that make me weird?
ReplyDeleteNot at all. I would love to have a freezer full of those things!
