Home is a nice place today—and not just because I've been cleaning it in anticipation of visitors later this week.
When I woke up this morning, life seemed bright, brighter than it's seemed in a long time, and when I walked around the house opening doors and windows to let in the early morning breeze, I was reminded of how lucky I am to live here—to have this place to sleep and eat and dream, this safe building in which to raise my kids and watch them grow (too quickly) into adults.
There have been times I've wished for wealth and a mansion, but this morning's blessed peacefulness reminds me yet again that I'm already very rich.
It's nice to have little reminders like this sometimes! :D
ReplyDeleteIt really is. :)
DeleteLove that, Dana. We all need to stop and see the beauty around us and count our blessings.
ReplyDeleteIndeed we do. :)
DeleteWonderful sentiment. I often dream about more, but I know I'm very lucky to have my great family and cozy little house too.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way.
DeleteI can almost hear William Wordsworth's poem "The World Is Too Much With Us" in this post. One of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteI love that one, too!
DeleteI agree it's when we appreciate what we do have and not long for what we don't have (or can't have) then we can be happy within ourselves, although there is nothing wrong with striving for better things.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda.
DeleteNow that's a wonderful way to think! So glad you found some peace in your world!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I am, too. :)
DeleteWhat a peaceful and relaxing post. Thank you for sharing such calming thoughts - it's just what I needed to read :)
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks. :) Glad you found it helpful.
DeleteOUR HOMES ARE WHAT WE MAKE IT AND I PERSONALLY WOULD NOT WANT TO CLEAN A MANSION haha THANKS FOR SHARING THIS AND REMINDING US TO STOP AND APPRECIATE THE THINGS RIGHT IN FRONT OF US. WISHING YOU GOOD TIMES WITH YOUR COMPANY THIS WEEK *.*
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Janice. :)
Delete(And I wouldn't want to clean a mansion, either!)
it is true.... health and happiness is life's best wealth! :)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely!
DeleteI love days like this. I felt the same way this weekend. It was just nice being home.
ReplyDeleteI try to hold on to these days. When life gets hectic, they're often too easy to forget.
DeleteIt is such a wonderful feeling to love the things you have rather than the ones you don't. That is part of my thinking each day now. I spent a major part of my life wanting more and not seeing what I have. Then I watched my mom age and have to give up so much. It fills me with sadness. So now I look at what I have, decide it is really too much, enjoy my life more, and try to hold on to that thought every single day.
ReplyDeleteThanks for my daily reminder for today.
You said that so beautifully. Thank you. :)
Deletehold onto these beautiful moments, they make the harder ones a little more hopeful--so happy you are having good days!!<3
ReplyDeleteThanks for this very good advice. :)
DeleteWhat a lovely post. You're so right.

ReplyDeleteBless you!
Aw, thanks, Cheryl.
DeleteSo glad things are brighter for you. I've been in a slump lately, helping my elderly mom, and I need to remember that I have many blessings in my life. Life is certainly a mix of ups and downs.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is. I'll keep you in my prayers.
