Sunday inspiration

Happy Sunday!

My inspiration pick for the day is this creative stop-motion video about something most readers and writers probably spend some time thinking about: organizing their bookcases.

Our house is pretty small and has been taken over by toys, so most of my books have ended up in boxes. How do you organize your bookshelves? By color? Size? Author's last name?

Have a great day!

  2. Definitely enjoyed this posting. I gave my book shelf to one of my grand kids and my books are being held in totes now. When they were on the shelf for some strange reason they were in a-z order.

    1. When I had shelves, my books were all over the place—no order whatsoever. I think it's nice that your shelf was organized, even if you don't know why the books were in A to Z order! :)

  3. That was a very cool little video! My books (the ones that are not in boxes) I think are primarily organized first by when they were acquired and then under fiction/non fiction and then lumped together by author or subject -- did any of that make sense???? My more recently acquired books (or the to read books) are kept on the book shelf in the spare bedroom (which also serves as an art gallery). The older ones appear in three or four bookshelves in the more public areas of the house. I have a bunch of books related to painting and color and photography in the "studio" - the room I use for painting , the same room that my sonny boy grew up in -- And I have , oh about ten boxes of kids' books that were left from my K-1-2 teaching days that I cannot yet let go of - though I have let go of at least another ten boxes of those books!

    1. I love a house that's filled with books. Sounds like I'd be right at home in yours. :)

    1. Sounds like a good system. I should do that with my kids' books.

  6. What a fun video! Organization on my book shelves? Well, I originally had them by author, but these days, I just stick them wherever I can find room. Now they're just piling on top of the bookcases!

    1. That was my method when I had shelves! I'm so glad I'm not the only one without a true system. :)

  7. we have bookshelves in almost every room in our house. I know...but I just can't help it!! Ilove my books. but I like them neat and upright, so we can read the titles easily...not too much to ask, the kids keep them that way for the most part.

  9. That is totally cool.

My house is taken over by toys too. And I have no grand bookcase.

I don't have a ton of my own books out. A small shelf in the bedroom. Books just stacked. Now the kids books are more easily accessible as they are all over.

  10. Now there's somebody with too much time on their hands--LOL! Cute video, though. I have eight bookcases in my little apartment, but only 3 1/2 of them have books in them. The rest are filled with art and craft supplies--LOL! ;)
