I bet you didn't know that!

Happy Saturday!

Today I'd like to give a shout-out to the wonderful Maryann Miller at It's Not All Gravy, who recently presented me with the Kreativ Blogger Award. Be sure to check out her blog, "a commentary about life, writing and the absurdities of the human condition." You'll always find something great there!

As per the rules associated with the award, here are ten little-known facts about me. To make things a bit more interesting, I've included one "fact" that isn't true. Can you guess the impostor? I'll tell you the answer at the end of the post.

1. I met my husband in a chat room and married him on a riverboat.

2. Dirty Dancing is my all-time favorite movie.

3. I love capers and sometimes eat them straight out of the jar.

4. I never leave the house without putting a little makeup on.

5. I crave chocolate-covered potato chips.

6. I don't care for most country music, but I do love Johnny Cash.

7. I could eat avocados every single day.

8. When we were kids, my sister and I used to "kill" our Barbies and then hold funerals for them.

9. During the summer, I like to spend as much time outdoors as I can.

10. I think Mom's Rhapsody is one of the funniest parodies out there:

Before I reveal the impostor, I'd like to pass this award along to six of the many great friends I met during the Blogging from A to Z Challenge. Be sure to visit their blogs:

1. Cheryl at Writing Remnants
2. Sherry at Mama Diaries
3. Nikki at Inspire Nordic
4. Jen at Crafting Magic
5. M. J. at Writing Tips for Success
6. Liz at The English Bad Ass

Congrats! It was difficult to choose only six.

And now for the impostor fact: During the summer, I like to spend as much time outdoors as I can.

I love summertime, but I get physically sick when I'm out in the heat too long. I can take temperatures up to the mid-seventies or maybe a little higher, but after that, I need to stay indoors and out of the sun.

Did you get it right?

Now it's your turn. I'd love to get to know all of my followers better. Why not post a random or little-known fact about yourself in the comments?

  1. Yay! Thank you so much :D I'll post it in my next post :D

I loved the facts, I didn't guess right, I thought the impostor might have been the avocados because I genuinely don't understand how people like them. They freak me out! I wish so badly that I liked them, they're pretty much the only food I dislike!

Have a great weekend and thank you again :D

    1. Yay! I can't wait to read your responses!

Avocados are kind of odd looking! They're healthy, but they have so many calories. If I ate one every day like I'd like to, I'd be huge. LOL

    2. Maybe it is one of those acquired tastes? I grew up with avocado trees and we had them all summer long - the family favorite was guacamole -- but, if you are going to dislike a food, that's a good one to dislike! Calorie rich and expensive!

  2. Nope, I didn't get the impostor one right; I thought it was the one with the Barbies :) (that was cute though to play). How neat how you met your husband; I bet it was a cool wedding! I met my husband in a bar. (that's a fact, there's more to the story of course, he was in a band, my brother was also in the same band :)

    congrats on the award!

    enjoy the day!

    1. Thank you!

Regarding the Barbies: I had a bit of a mean streak, that's for sure. ;)

Our wedding was really nice. We kept it small--just my husband's kids and a couple of friends--but we took a nice trip down the river and had dinner on the boat.

I love that you met your husband in a bar--and especially that he was in a band. I've always loved those rocker types and dated one or two myself. :)

  4. I live in Western Washington, so anything above the mid-70s is way, way too hot. I'm not big on the heat, either =)

I hate avocados, but I love guacamole.

    1. Glad I'm not the only one who's not crazy about hot weather!

I've heard other people say that about avocados. I love them both. :)

  5. I thought it was craving the chocolate covered potato chips! I didn't even know such things existed and they don't sound good to me at all!
I like capers too but I have to figure out more ways to use them in food.
I am a warm weather fan but 80 degrees is just about right. It seldom gets above 90 where I live (stays much closer to 70 all summer long).
Little known fact about me? I never read the comics in the newspaper. It's not that i don't want to laugh - I can and I do. There's something disappointing about the comics - as in, they are often NOT funny. They don't live up to my expectations so I don't waste my time. How;s that? :)

    1. I first had the potato chips when I was vacationing at the Wisconsin Dells. There's just something about the combination of sweet and salty that I adore!

Seventy degrees sounds perfect. Maybe I should move there!

I agree with you about the comics, and like you, when I do read them, I rarely laugh.

      Have a nice weekend!

  6. Didn't see that coming:) Thanks, Dana! Just finished posting and sharing the love on my blog. As for avocados...absolutely agree with you! Heat...take it or leave it.... just don't wanna be too cold for extended periods of time. I'll be checking out those links you shared...being included in high quality company always makes me smile:) Happy Saturday to you, kind friend!

    1. You're welcome! I think you have a great blog. :) I'll head over there to read your list tonight. My hubby needs the computer this afternoon, and then my son wants to play his online games after that...

      Have a great day!

  7. Hey Dana,
Loved the Bohemian Rhapsody - my kids do that song repeatedly on Lego Rock Band and have it memorized. Gotta show them this version! A little known fact...and a whopper of a lie. That's how I did my "about me" tab over at my place. Here's a real fact: I'm hypoglycemic, so my breakfast looks more like someone's dinner than breakfast. I need the protein. I eat very few carbs.
Thanks so much for stopping by at my place and following. Congrats, too, on finishing the challenge.

  9. Ummm.
    I am afraid of fish.
I can watch them in my pond but if I have to put my hand in the water, I hyperventilate.

    1. Have you heard of those places you can go where you stick your feet in water and the fish eat your dead skin? That freaks me out. ;)

  11. Those are great! Somehow my Barbies always ended up "knocked up" when I was little. Even before I knew how that happened. Yikes. And I love Dirty Dancing too! :)

    1. LOL My Barbies got knocked up, too. My Pink & Pretty Barbie probably had about ten kids, and like you, I had no idea how that happened. :)

  12. Avocados, chocolate potato chips, capers...I love em' too. I never killed off any Barbies, and I never wanted a Ken doll. He seemed like a wimp. :-) I miss the TV show LOST, thought it was awesome. I think I have to accept the fact that I'm never going to lose this 15 pounds. :-( Congrats on the Kreative blog award!

You know, I never watched Lost. From what everyone says, I missed out on a lot. Maybe I should Netflix it.

      Aren't the chocolate-covered potato chips great? I ♥ them. :)

  13. Thank you for your comment :) I'm going to post this award up soon, I'm still thinking about my facts about myself :D I watched Dirty Dancing when I was younger and wasn't such a fan. I'm making you a promise right now - in the summer one day, I am going to make some kind of avacado dish and sit down and watch Dirty Dancing again. Just for you :D I'm determined to like them both! ☆

  16. I loved that video! A little known fact about me is that I don't reheat my coffee. My current cup has gone cold and I'm still drinking it. Tasty? No, not exactly. Lazy? Oh, absolutely!

    1. Now it's iced coffee--without the ice, of course! ;)
