Location, location, location!

Happy Thursday!

Today I'm participating in the Booking Through Thursday meme hosted by Deb. Click the button below if you'd like to play along.

Here's today's question:

What’s your favorite place to read? Do you have more than one? Can you read anywhere, or do you need things to be “just right?” Bonus points for sharing a photo of your favorite spot.

I can—and do—read just about anywhere: in the car, in bed, in the bathtub, while lying on the couch or sitting on a hard bench at story time as someone else entertains my kids. I read while I brush my teeth and when I cook dinner. I read at the computer and outside at the patio table and during commercials when I'm watching TV. When I was a kid, I even read during church. I know, I know... ☺

My kitchen table, a few of my current reads, and my favorite
mug. (Yes, it's a Santa mug, but I use it year-round!) Behind
the mug is a pine tree branch that my son found and asked me
to put in water. What we won't do for our kids! ☺
My favorite place to read right now, though, is at the kitchen table, early in the morning before anyone else is awake. I get up at around 5:30 each weekday, pack my son's lunch, and then sit down with a cup of coffee and a book for a few peaceful minutes before I need to rush on to the next thing on my to-do list. I love easing into my day by immersing myself in someone else's story.

What about you? What's your favorite place to read?

  2. It's so nice that you have a few minutes of reading time before the chaos of the day starts! I curl up in a chair in my bedroom, and if I'm cold, I wrap myself up in a blanket!

    1. It definitely comes in handy during boring waits at places like the doctor's office. :)

  6. My favorite spot is actually on an airplane or an airport for completely (almost anyway) uninterrupted and sustained reading. At home though I like my living room because it's so under-used but light and cheerful.

    1. Both sound good to me. I especially like the idea of reading in an underused room. Wish I had one! ;)

  7. I'm like you - I can read anywhere - and I do like me a nice cup of steaming hot tea when I'm reading.

    1. Oh, I agree. Tea or coffee make reading all the better!

  8. Oh how I wish I could read in the card! If I even read a single word in there, I get instant car sickness. I love to read either curled up on our comfy couch or in bed.

    1. I love reading in bed, but it's dangerous because I often just end up falling asleep. :)

  9. I like to read at the library in quiet. They have a wonderful desk near the magazines that has a elevated slant where it's easier to read.

  10. My favorite place to read is in bed, just before I fall asleep. It is my sleeping pill! I also like to read in my rocker/recliner that my husband bought me for my 50th birthday. But it almost ALWAYS puts me to sleep, even in the middle of the day!

  11. I can read anywhere too. I feel so sorry for those people who get carsick when they read. That would completely suck!

My favorite place to read is anywhere someone isn't bothering me.

  12. I used to read anywhere, too. Nowadays I am home alone all the time, so I enjoy being quietly in a nice comfortable chair with a cup of coffee. :)
