Happy Sunday, friends.
Today's inspiration is both artistic and thought-provoking. It features performance artist Jillian Mayer as she chases projected images of screensavers with idyllic scenes. Mayer says on her Web site that these sorts of images are created by design programs to be more attractive so that they appeal to our primal desire to be outside rather than in front of a computer or in urban landscapes, which often aren't the most aesthetically pleasing. The film shows that "even if Mayer were to ever catch up with her object of desire, she will find it never existed in the first place... She has been chasing the unattainable."
This is an inspiring piece that has been screened at the Guggenheim Museums in New York, Berlin, Bilbao, and Venice, among other places. I hope you enjoy it.
Wishing you all a creative and inspirational Sunday. ☺
Wow this is amazing. It's actually unlike anything I've ever seen. Happy Sunday Dana :)
ReplyDeleteIt makes one think, doesn't it?

ReplyDeleteThe song is definitely catchy. :) Hope you're having a nice day.
DeleteThat's certainly different! I wonder if she got tired running? Have a great Sunday!
ReplyDeleteI wonder. :) Happy Sunday!
DeleteThat looks like it was done from a truck
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure, but it seems to have been.
DeleteA very interesting video!
ReplyDeleteIt's certainly thought-provoking.
DeleteHappy Sunday, Adam.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely makes one stop and think about the rat-race life in the box we so often find ourselves living. Slow down now and then... step outside the boxes and breathe!!
ReplyDeleteI agree: that's definitely something all of us need to do.
DeleteHope your Sunday was a good one. ☺
Cool...wish it looked like that when I ran :)
ReplyDelete☺ Happy Sunday!
DeleteVery thought provoking! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteToday was supposed to be creative?
ReplyDeleteUnless laying on the couch and watching football counts, I got nuttin'.
I don't know. As someone who rarely watches football, I think lying on the couch and watching it is pretty creative. :)
DeleteThis was interesting, Dana. I wonder how she could run in boots? That's what it looked like she was wearing.
ReplyDeletehope it was a great day!
betty
They looked like boots to me, too.
DeleteHave a great week!
I always run further when I have some nice scenery. I did a lot of work today because the bitter cold wind inspired me to stay inside all day and write.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting so much done! There's definitely something to be said for those bitterly cold days. :)
