Friday fun (and a baby update!)

Happy Friday, friends!

I hope you all had a great week. Mine was really good—especially yesterday, when I had my nineteen-week ultrasound. It was so wonderful to see the baby again! I don't know the gender, but just a few feet away from where I sit right now is an envelope with either "boy" or "girl" written on a piece of paper inside of it. I've been saying all along that I want to let the gender of this baby be a surprise, but I can feel myself weakening a little now. I.don't know when (or if) we'll open the envelope, but I'll be sure to let you all know one way or the other. I'm curious: What would you do?

Now on to the Friday fun. I hope these signs and video bring you some smiles. ☺

    1. I found out with the other two—one boy and one girl. My husband wants to know, as do the kids. Yikes! Talk about pressure! ;) I'm not sure what I'll do. ☺

  2. Hi Dana, congratulations on the baby! My husband and I had our 20 week scan for our first child two weeks ago and we found out the sex - we're having a boy. Very exciting! For us, it was the best moment of the pregnancy so far - made it so much more real and exciting. But, you've already got kids so I suspect it already feels quite real for you!

I was reading the blog of another writer who is expecting her first child - a boy - at about the same time as us. Obviously next spring is the fashionable time for writers to reproduce!

  6. Congratulations on your great news. So glad everything is going well. I have to admit I'd be ripping that envelope open LOL.

Love the videos, that boxer's expressions are so funny. And I think the serving people sign is my favorite. :D

You've done good to go this long without finding out the sex. I bet the kids will bug you until you give in (-:

  10. Ralph the boxer dog is absolutely adorable! And I personally would not want to know. I'm kinda old-fashioned that way I suppose :)

I'm a little old-fashioned too—but I have to admit that the pressure is getting to me. ☺

  11. Congrats!!! So exciting. I wouldn't have even let them put the info in an envelope- i would have just had them tell me- so you are much more patient than me :) lol! Ps, love all the signs and videos. Happy Friday.

    1. Thanks, Rebecca. Our son was in school and couldn't go with us to the ultrasound, so one reason I did the envelope thing was because I didn't want the rest of family to find out without him. Still, I'm unsure what to do now. :)

  12. Wouldn't knowing help you choose the color scheme to the baby room? Just saying. Ralph would agree. :-)

  13. I found out with my second child if it was going to be a boy or girl. That way I knew if I should keep all my girl baby stuff or get boy stuff. It also gave us time to choose the name. So happy to hear everything is going well with the pregnancy!

    1. Thank you, Sherry! My husband and I usually have a horrible time agreeing on names. That fact kind of makes me lean toward finding out—just because I don't think we can agree on both a boy and a girl name. :)

  14. Brilliant love the dog, so human like. The baby was a scream and talking of baby's, tear the envelope up and throw it away. Let the the birth surprise you knowing before takes away the excitement

  18. Be surprised :) That's what I would do. We had a couple at church who had their first baby this past July and they didn't know what it was until he was born . Drove everyone crazy though in the family who wanted to know what she was having. The old days, like when I was born 50 plus years ago, it was always a surprise what the moms had. Let us know though if you want if you do open the envelope :)

    that baby dance was adorable!

  23. If you don't want to know you'll have to give the envelope to someone to hold, or throw it out, haha, otherwise it'll be way too tempting!! OR it would be for me anyway. :)

I love the last video, the baby's got rhythm. :)

    1. Oh, it's tempting—really tempting! I have a feeling I'll cave eventually. My husband was actually going to take it to work with him after the ultrasound, but I didn't trust him not to open it. LOL

That baby looks like a future entertainer to me!

      Have a nice weekend. ☺

  24. Your Friday Funnies always crack me up. I can't help wondering if the Nasty Buffet serves people too. ;-)

I think I'd want to know the baby's gender, but I really, really hate unknowns. It is nice when friends who are pregnant find out and share the name because then you're talking about George or Anne and not "it" which just sounds so much nicer.

    1. I know what you mean about unknowns. I, too, like to plan. And I agree: any name is better than "it."

  26. This reminds me of the Friends episode where everyone finds out he's having a by, except Ross, and then Rachel lets it leak at the end. (I admit I've seen that episode more times than a regular person should...) Whatever you decide will be the right choice.

  29. OMG the willpower you have not to look in the envelop! I wanted to be surprised, but Rick really wanted to know so I gave in. He said it was so we'd have more time to pick a name but both times the nurse had to threaten to withhold my discharge papers if we didn't fill out the birth certificate form!

So excited for you - I hope you enjoy every moment.

    1. Thanks so much, Cindy. That's so funny! My husband and I have lots of "discussions" about names, and two names are, of course, much harder to come up with than one. (By the way—Shh... I might have opened the envelope. More soon. ;)

  31. There's no way I could not know about the baby. I found out both with mine. I just want to decide the name, do the planning for clothes and everything else. I admire those who have to willpower to not look. Good luck sticking to it! :)
