The reason I didn't sleep last night (now with photo!)

It's done!
Today is my son's sixth birthday! I was up all night baking and decorating his Mario cake—four layers with buttercream icing and homemade fondant decorations—and right now I think I could easily fall asleep on my keyboard.

Anyway, I won't be around much today as we celebrate our son's big day (and I take a nap), but I'm looking forward to catching up with your blogs tomorrow. Happy Thursday! ☺

    2. That's great! Your little guy must be excited! If that were my cake, I'd be studying it and debating whether to eat the cloud or a Mario.

Thanks. I'm a cake-baking amateur, and I just breathed a sigh of relief that I don't have to make another one until July. ;)

    1. Thanks, Josie. :)

I actually didn't get a nap. We took the kids to the children's museum to play, and I found myself kind of swaying as I was standing and watching them. I was so tired I could have fallen asleep anywhere!

  7. Awesome, my sons would have loved that when they were kids, I think Mario it is what set my son on the road to being a Video Game designer. Where is Bowser?

    1. Thanks, Bill.

Maybe Bowser is on vacation? ;) I left out a lot of the characters. My son is just starting to play Mario games on the Wii, so I decided to stick to the characters he's familiar with. ☺

  24. Your cake is amazing! I've never baked a regular cake from scratch. I can't imagine creating something like this. A few months ago I decided to make oatmeal cookies for the first time. After I put them in the oven, I realized that I used cornmeal instead of flour:) It turned out that I accidently made gluten-free cookies. Your son is very lucky!
