Happy Saturday!
Today's inspiration comes from Reba McEntire. As a rule, I'm not a huge fan of country music. I love Johnny Cash and enjoy a few contemporary country artists, but I usually prefer listening to other types of music. However, the video I've chosen for today—"Because of You," a duet by Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson—is one I can watch again and again. It's a beautiful song and a wonderfully done video, and I find it inspirational simply because I enjoy it so much.
How about you? Do you find any music videos inspirational? Are there any collaborations that you just love?
Lyrics here.
My daily haiku is up at the Pulitzer Remix site. You can find it here. Thanks again to everyone who has been reading and commenting. I'm grateful for your support!
Wishing you all a relaxing Saturday. ☺
Im not a big country gal either but somehow Reba is different
ReplyDeleteI agree. There's just something about her that I like. She has that "best friend" quality about her.
DeleteI didn't know they did a music video together
ReplyDeleteYes—and Kelly will be marrying Reba's stepson soon. :)
DeleteI also had never seen this collaboration. I rarely watch music videos anymore, which is odd because I really enjoy them!
ReplyDeleteI probably watch too many of them! What can I say? YouTube sucks me in. :)
Deletelovely music! Thannks and here's some from our neck of the woods- good friends making wonderful music. Enjoy!
ReplyDeletewhoops ...helps to post the link:

Thanks! I'm listening as I comment on blogs. Very nice. :)
DeleteI am not a real country music fan either, but I adore Reba McEntire because she strikes me as being genuine in a business where there is so much that is artificial.
ReplyDeleteI'd never heart this song, but listening to it made me cry. It could well be my anthem too, and was for so very many years.
My heart whispers this response, a prayer to The One I know has always loved me, and will always hold me up...
Because of You I will learn to love again, because You love me;
Because of You I will learn to trust, I know you will show me who I can;
Because of You I will not let my past define me, I know that it is over;
Because of You I will live my life with courage and self-respect,
Because of You, and what You did for me, I know that I have been set free.
"Genuine" is a good word. I like that about her, too.
DeleteYour response is beautiful.
I never liked Reba until I saw her live in a concert (we were given free tickets). That changed my entire attitude about her. This song is great - they sound great together. And it's better than Kelly's solo version.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Reba adds the 'something' that the song really needed. :)
DeleteNice video but sad. Thanks for cheering me up with the harvest pine.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed the haiku. Thanks!
DeleteGreat R post.
ReplyDeleteI don't really have any videos but I do strategically place songs on my iPod to coincide with the end of a run- I have Neil Diamond's Beautiful Noise at the end of my long runs...inspiring. The rest is all hard rock to fire me up.
Happy A-Z Saturday!
Hard rock fires me up, too!
DeleteThanks! Have a great day.
I love this song and I didn't know that they did a duet with it. Beautiful and sad... wow. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite duet is Rhianna and Maroon 5: If I Never See Your Face Again ~ from years ago....I've been in love with him forever. Hahahaha :)
I don't know that one, but I do know what you mean about Adam Levine. ;)
DeleteO god Johnny Cash was around when I was a kid not my cup of tea. Think you might be shocked to know i prefer Tecno and electronic music, must be because I used to love Emerson, Lake and Palmer.
ReplyDeleteMany people are shocked to find out that I love heavy metal, Ozzy Osbourne in particular. My students were flabbergasted to learn that their teacher loved Ozzy. :)
DeleteOzzy does not live a million miles from me, Jordans which is in Buckinghamshire about an hour away. I preferred him in Black Sabbath
DeleteI might have to come and visit you. ;)
DeleteI like him better solo. I stayed up way too late last night watching his videos.
Reba is awesome. Here is one of my favorite duets: Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton singing Islands in the Stream http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKtLN9yV-30
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Dana, for stopping by to see my A-Z posts. Hope that you are having a great weekend.

I find a lot of writing inspiration in nature and always enjoy looking at your flower photos.
DeleteI'm not familiar with that duet. I'll check it out. :)
Happy weekend. ☺
I love the tv show Reba. Can I be a part of that family for just a day? That'd be fun.
ReplyDeleteI love it, too. Have you seen her new one, Malibu Country? It's great. :)
Deleteyeah love reba and she still looks just the same!
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of Reba :) Growing up in music city, you're sort of exposed to country whether you like it or not. Thank goodness I like it!
ReplyDeleteI love this duet so much. Their voices sound great together. I think my favorite is, and always will be, Jackson by Johnny and June Carter Cash :)
I love that one!
DeleteReba. Looks like Mrs. Penwasser #1.
ReplyDeleteIf Mrs. Penwasser #1 was hit in the face with a 2 X 4.
Really? I always thought that Reba was attractive.
DeleteI loved the original and I've not hear this duet until now. Great choice and a new favorite of mine! :)
ReplyDeleteYay! Glad you liked it!
DeleteI've been finding inspiration in "I Gotta be Me" sung by Fin from, (I'm a bit embarrassed to admit) Glee. It's a great song though. : )
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with that. :)
DeleteGood choice, Dana! I am a big fan of this video. I like Kelly's solo version as well. Recently, I've been inspired a lot by Loreena McKennit's music. Ethereal. The old rock group, Kansas, has some good inspirational tunes, as does John Mellencamp.
ReplyDeleteHave a good remainder of the weekend. :-)
I love John Mellencamp!
DeleteThanks. Enjoy yours, too.
I have always been a REBA FAN, and now a Kelly Fan...thanks to your video's during this AtoZ. Thanks! Did you see the 'Who Do You Think You Are' segment of Reba's Family History? It was so interesting.

Oh, I love Who Do You Think You Are?, and yes, I did get to see Reba's story. It was really fascinating!
Deletefirst time I saw it and it was a good one I have noticed as I get older I don't listen to as much music as I once did maybe I should start again
ReplyDeleteI listen to it mostly when I'm in the car, but sometimes I'll go on video kicks where I'll spend half the night on YouTube. (Last night was one of those nights.) :)
DeleteI'm not too much of a Reba fan, but that was good.
ReplyDeleteI thought the video was nicely done. :)
DeletePowerful video. Reba has a lot of talent.
ReplyDeleteYes, she really does.
DeleteI have fairly eclectic taste in music, but early Joni Mitchell stuff always moves me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this stimulating post.
Glad you liked the post. Have a great Sunday. ☺
DeleteI got soooo excited when I saw the post was for Reba and the post was even better than I expected. I am a fan of (most) country music but I'm also a big fan of rock. There are a couple songs I think you might like, at least the meaning of, even if you aren't a fan of the genre or artists.
ReplyDeleteNever Too Late by Three Days Grace
Skin by Sixx Am
Life Is Beautiful by Sixx Am
(My list is about a million songs longer but I'll stop there. haha)
Thanks for the recommendations! I like Three Days Grace, although I don't know that song. I've never heard of Sixx Am, but I'll check out their music. Yay! So excited to have something new to listen to. :)
DeleteBeautiful. Touching. Scary. Thanks for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and Bear hugs!

ReplyDeleteShe seems like someone I could be friends with. ☺
Deletethanks for sharing Dana, love it
