Last week I posted about some of the little things that made me happy on an otherwise chaotic day. Today I'd like to highlight a Web site that asks readers to submit their own everyday sources of happiness, Just Little Things.
I discovered Just Little Things several months ago, and I quickly realized that it's one of those sites I can lose myself in. I found myself smiling at so many of the posts. The June 2 post, for example, left me nodding my head in agreement because I was happy about the very same thing that day: "When everyone at a potluck eats the dish you brought in." I don't know about you, but every time I have to bring food to an event—in my case, it was salad to a church picnic—I always worry that no one will eat it. I always tell my husband to take some so at least it looks like somebody enjoyed it. ☺ Just Little Things is filled with these little bits of happiness, from observations like "When animals sneeze" to those never-to-be-forgotten moments in life like "Walking across the stage at graduation."
The creator of Just Little Things, Nancy Vu, has been running the site since December 2010, and she recently released a book based on the submissions she receives. I haven't read the book, but I highly recommend the site if you're ever in need of a happiness boost.
I really believe there's always something to feel happy about. As Bono says, it's a beautiful day!
Wishing you all a joy-filled Tuesday. ☺
Well it's sunny here so you got to be happy when it's sunny.
ReplyDeleteIndeed! Glad it's a good day, Bill.
DeleteThat's a good one! I'm always happy when the potluck dish comes home empty. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's a good feeling. :)
DeleteI'm going to check out the site. Thanks for sharing. I need to focus on the little things that are right and beautiful in my life.

ReplyDeleteU2 is great! :)
DeleteI'm happy today because my annual doctor's appt went well, so now I'm healthy AND happy. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful news—and definitely a reason to be happy!
DeleteThe littlest things often give us the BIGGEST happiness when you really think of it. I read somewhere that life is a collection of little things and little moments and that we should not overlook them :)
ReplyDeleteVery wise words!
DeleteYes, I like the happiness of those little things, I have had similar feelings too. Salutations.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea, I'm definitely going to check out that site. And I love U2 so that video alone makes me happy! :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you'll be checking out the site. I really enjoy it. That song makes me happy, too. :)
DeleteThis is great. I will be checking this out! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. Enjoy the site!

ReplyDeleteThen I think you'll really love this one. :)
DeleteWhat a lovely idea for a site. It's true - I'm always happy when others enjoy a dish I've brought!
ReplyDeleteYes, I love how positive the site is. :)
DeleteI suppose I shouldn't worry so much about people liking my food, but it's hard not to. LOL
Dana, this is officially my daily site for a break and a smile...forget about Coke.
ReplyDeleteYay! Glad you enjoyed it—it's much better than a Coke. ;)
DeleteIt's always good to get a 'Burst of Happiness', and I agree...it's a lot of little things that just make ones day. Funny about the potluck...I think we all have been there done that at one time or another. I know I always make something my husband will eat...LOL!!!

Yes, as long as I know someone (my husband) is going to make a dent in the dish, I feel better. ;)
DeleteLoved this uplifting post! Thanks.

ReplyDeleteIt's one of those "Why didn't I think of that?" ideas. Love it!
Deletehappy Tuesday
ReplyDeleteI hope yours was a good one, Adam!
DeleteI like when people eat what I bring, too!
ReplyDeleteI always breathe a sigh of relief when I see people reaching for my food. Whew! ;)

ReplyDeleteAw, thank you. I hope you're having a wonderful Wednesday. :)
DeleteI'm heading over to the link right now, but I just wanted to say hi before I did.
ReplyDeleteHi! Glad you stopped by. :)
DeleteCool. Thanks for the link!
ReplyDeleteYou're very welcome.
DeleteWho doesn't need an extra dose of happy every now and again? Thanks for the heads up. =)
ReplyDeleteI know I do! LOL
DeleteI went over to take a look at the website and I absolutely love it! We often overlook how many little things in life make us smile and feel good! I could relate to the hot dish one too. :-) This was a great find to share with us... THANK YOU, Dana! :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you enjoyed it! It's definitely a great site to visit on the not-so-great days. :)
DeleteIt's the little things that you find joy in, right? I know I do this as much as I can. I need to A LOT! I love watching Maru the Cat videos on Youtube, since I have no cat of my own. It always eventually makes me smile. :)
ReplyDeleteI've never seen those. I'll have to check them out. :)
DeleteLoved that website. Thanks for sharing, Dana. Sometimes it is the little things that make the whole day.
ReplyDeleteThe other day it was my turn to get up to get Alec to the bus - why oh why does high school start at the crack of dawn? His bus comes at 6:25, which is just ridiculous. Rick took one look at my sleepy face and told me to take a long shower and did the bus run for me!
How sweet of Rick to make the bus run for you. I bet you had a better day because of that. :)
DeleteIt's the little things that make life special!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! ☺
DeleteThat sounds like a great site. I'll check it out. It is the little things that keep us going.
ReplyDeleteI am checking the site after this message. I'm sure I will enjoy those bits and pieces of advice. Thank you, Dana! :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoyed it. ☺
DeleteI am pessimistic by nature...so being happy means actually...working on it a lot...
ReplyDeleteSome days are easier for me than others, too, when it comes to finding the good and happy moments.
Deletethanks dana---sometimes when i am happy, i check myself to see why :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea! We really should stop and recognize all the little things that make us smile.
DeleteI feel the same way when I bring a dish somewhere! It's the little things, huh? I can't wait to check out the site. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWe have to find our happiness where we can, and the little things really do count. :)
DeleteI hope you enjoy the site. Have a great weekend!
