Happy Thursday, friends.
Wow! It's been a few days since my last post. Whereas last week I "disappeared" because of a fall (mine), a case of mono (my son's), and surgery preparation (my husband's), this week I've been off doing something fun.
One of my goals this year is to do more art journaling, something I'm discovering I really, really enjoy. I signed up for a year-long workshop, and I've been having so much fun creating this week that I haven't been here as much as I wanted to be. Art has become kind of an obsession. I've been reading all the art journaling books I can find and watching wonderful artists who've created helpful videos on techniques. I'm having a blast!
Today I'm still in an artistic mood, and when I feel this way, I love listening to one of my favorite spoken-word poets, Tanya Davis. I've highlighted her work on my blog several times. I especially love her collaborations with artist Andrea Dorfman—perhaps because they're doing what I want to do and combining two of my loves: art and words. The video I posted below, "Eulogy for you and Me," is one of their collaborations that I've been obsessed with recently. Even though the video is on the sad side, it's beautifully written and animated—and it puts me in the mood to create, which is always a good thing. ☺ I hope you enjoy it, too.
Lyrics here.
What's your latest obsession?
Wishing you all a fantastic Thursday. ☺
If you're going to be gone from blogging for a bit because of art journaling or something else fun, that's okay by me. :) Glad you're enjoying yourself!
ReplyDelete☺ Thanks! Have a great day, Madeline.
DeleteArt journaling sounds like fun. One of the things on my "To Do" list is to one day take an art class.
ReplyDeleteI would love to do that, too!
DeleteWonderful video!
ReplyDeleteI think so, too. ☺
DeleteI think it's so great that you've been embracing your creativity. You mentioned once that you don't consider yourself an artist, which I think is interesting since you are so interested in art of all kinds of creative expression. This says to me that you are an artist, you just hadn't embraced that yet.
ReplyDeleteThanks for saying that. I'm very critical of my work; I've had no formal training. I don't feel like an artist, but I like how creating art makes me feel. ☺
DeleteVery cool! My current obsession is probably my current WiP, which is probably much the same as a lot of other peoples' current obsession. But my writing process includes a lot of "cooling off periods" in between bursts of productivity, so now I'm on a roll again.
ReplyDeleteHave a great Thursday, Dana!
I hear you about the "cooling off periods." I'm in one of those right now. Good luck with your writing!
DeleteHow are you, your son, and your hubby doing??
ReplyDeleteI'm okay after my fall, although today I haven't felt the greatest for other reasons. My son is doing really well; I would never know he had mono! My husband goes for his surgery next Wednesday. I'm nervous...
DeleteThanks for asking, Keith. I hope you had a good day!
I love those periods when I feel inspired and driven. Maybe soon you'll feel like sharing some of what you're creating.
ReplyDeleteMaybe someday. I need to gain more confidence first. :)
DeleteI cannot think of any obsessions. In fact, I don't think obsession is something which Bears consider (except, obsessions with food, perhaps).
ReplyDeleteFascinating poetry and colour!
I do hope your family is doing well with all those health issues!
Blessings and Bear hugs.
I have an obsession with food—chocolate! :)
DeleteThanks, Bear. We're doing okay.
I hope you find some time to create! Sounds like you have a lot on your plate right now!
ReplyDeleteThanks. So far my only time is at night. I'll take what I can get!
DeleteLOL. Just staying warm is keeping me pretty busy. I'm actually getting some promotion stuff ready and drinking a lot of hot tea.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great way to spend time! Stay warm. We're freezing over here, too. Brr...
DeleteI hope you managed to find some time. Have a wonderful weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Christine. Happy weekend!
Delete3 unfortunate events in a week, I can only imagine the stress
ReplyDeleteYes, it was a very stressful week. I'm glad to say that things are a lot better now, thanks!
DeleteIt's so great that you've found joysuch a creative activity during a stressful period.
DeleteThanks, Donna. I think so, too. Art journaling really does make me feel happy and relaxed. :)
DeleteThat was an interesting video, Dana; I did enjoy the creativity of it. I am so glad you have found a "niche" so to speak with art journaling. Not too many obsessions here these days, LOL, maybe I'm getting too old for them?
ReplyDeletebetty
:) Maybe you just haven't found the right one yet.
DeleteThanks, Betty. Have a good weekend.
my daughter enjoys art journaling. It's so fun to discover a new creative outlet! I'm trying to finish my book. AND work on the book proposal. Not as much fun. Some days I think I'll just write my book for myself and bag publishing!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your book! Publishing is quite a process...
