My family and I survived our weekend trip to visit relatives. The kids had a great time playing with their dad and cousins in their uncle and aunt's pool. I've never been much of a pool person (or an outdoors person, for that matter), but I enjoyed relaxing with a book and some Netflix.
Vacation was great while it lasted, but now it's back to reality. Bring on the laundry, the cleaning, the cooking, and the chauffeuring. (And the writing—that one I'm looking forward to.)
In other news, tomorrow is my daughter's fourth birthday, so tonight will be cake-baking night for me. This year, she wants a princess cake. I'll post a photo of it tomorrow if all goes well.
It's good to be back! Tell me what I missed. How have you been? What's new in your world?
Wishing you all a fantastic Tuesday. ☺
Your weekend sounds fun and very sweet. Glad you are safely home.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing this Princess cake! And hearing about your birthday Princess. Hugs.
Thanks! It's good to be back. :)
DeleteI hope the cake turns out. Cross your fingers!
glad you had a nice vacation---awwww i remember the princess parties--happy birthday to your daughter :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lynn. I'll pass your birthday wishes along to my very excited daughter. ☺
DeleteMy daughter turns 16 this week....I've been shopping and hiding presents, planning her party, and making an appointment for her to take her driving test. It's a big week, with a long vacation weekend following it. I think I'll need it!!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to her! Best of luck getting everything done; that's a lot. Enjoy that vacation. ☺
DeleteWelcome back! Glad you had such a good time.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your four-year-old! Such an exciting time in life!
Blessings and Bear hugs to you ad yor daughter, especially!

Thanks so much! She's very excited about turning four. I remember those days... :)
DeleteWelcome Back! sounds like a great family time:) I'm looking forward on the princess cake tomorrow. I bet your daughter is excited!:)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Melgie. I'll post the picture as long as the cake turns out. Talk about pressure! ;)
DeleteYou must be a better baker than my mom. We'd always go to the store as a kid. The cakes she made for me as an adult were pretty bad.
ReplyDeleteI don't do a lot of baking, but I always like to attempt my kids' birthday cakes. Admittedly, some turn out better than others. :)
DeleteWell if you had been at work with me you have missed the fire. We thought it was just a practice like they have but no, two engines a fire chief and a police car turned up. Turned out to be a fire in a swich room. Excitement over and back to work, worstthing was I did not have my camera with me.
ReplyDeleteSounds scary. Glad everything turned out okay. It's too bad about the camera. I'm sure you would have gotten some great pictures. :)
DeleteHappy early birthday to your daughter!! Ah yes those post-vacation days...you seem to be taking it better than I usually do :-)
ReplyDeleteI just figure there's nothing I can do, so I may as well just go with it. LOL
DeleteI'm happy for your safe return!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Leovi. :)
DeleteGlad you enjoyed your short break and happy birthday to your little girl. I'm sure any cake her mum makes just for her will be perfect in her eyes.
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks. I sure hope so!
DeleteHi, Dana,
ReplyDeleteGlad you had some down time away from the house .... I know the feeling. Laundry yesterday, polishing silver today... Oh, the joys.. did finish my re-write on my second novel ... YAY!!!
Rest of the week.... querying.... FUN... YEAH, RIGHT? LOL. Polishing silver may be a better outlet for my time ... LOL.
Congrats on finishing your rewrite and good luck with the querying!
DeleteOh, HAPPY 4th to your baby!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'll tell her you said so. :)
DeleteSometimes 'Reality' is good to get back to even when laundry looms. Now Princess cake baking...that's a reality check....FOUR years old...I bet everyday is the life of a Princess for her. My GrandGal is 15 Today! How time flies. Enjoy the Princess moments.
ReplyDeleteNow let's see...what did you miss from me. Thankfully no fires like Bill, but I did get two more 3xGreat Uncles written about...6 to go. I swear my ancestors were fertile folk.

Baby's Pink and Blue...It's A Test of Time
Congrats on all your hard work! All of that research you're doing is truly amazing.
DeleteTime does fly. I'm trying to hold each day as long as I can. :)
Laundry after a trip is perhaps the worst thing ever. Glad you had a nice time, though!
ReplyDeleteOh, it is—even after a short trip. I probably should get going on that. ;)
DeleteI've been Al the Pool Boy. Chemicals, chemicals, and more chemicals. It's worth it. I guess.
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's one job I don't want to have. LOL
DeleteMakes me look forward to winter.
ReplyDeleteAlmost.
Haha!
DeleteHappy Birthday to your daughter! Four is such a sweet age. Welcome back. Vacations are fun, but it takes a while to catch up!
ReplyDeleteIt really does. I feel like I'm so behind, even here with the blogs.
DeleteI'll pass on your birthday wishes. I can't believe my baby will be four!
I love me a pool on a hot sunny day :) My daughter house sat for a house with a pool in the middle of our heat wave....I just love reading on a raft...I can float forever :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Tuesday!
Welcome back. Can't wait to see that pretty cake. My girls always liked something fancy too. One year it was kitty cats. Another year it was Rainbow Brite's horse Starlite. Even today the favorite cake of my daughter who is getting married is funfetti. She joked that she'd have that for her wedding cake.
ReplyDeleteA Funfetti wedding cake would be awesome! My kids love the Funfetti brownies. :)
DeleteHappy Birthday to your little one! Glad you enjoyed...your trip!
ReplyDeleteNas
Thanks, Nas. ☺
DeleteThat first couple of days of reality is harsh, but it sounds like you had a great time. I'm actually home while everyone else is on trips to Europe (hubby and #1 son on separate trips) I've gone on housework strike in protest, lots of book reading for me too :-)
ReplyDeleteGood for you! That housework strike sounds amazing. I think I'll do that, too. :)
DeleteWelcome back! I hate those first few days after a vacation. Although my first few days back from France I basically slept, so that wasn't so bad :D
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the cake! I still think I'm a princess so...
;)
Yes, it's so hard to get back into the swing of "real" life.
DeleteMy daughter says she's going to be a real princess when she grows up. I think I'll be making princess cakes for many years. Love it!
Oh fun. Happy bday to your daughter. Looking forward to seeing the cake.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sandra. :) My daughter was happy with her cake. Whew!
DeleteSounds like a great trip! Good luck with the cake. Hope your daughter has an awesome birthday. My little guy and I started swim lessons this week. Yesterday was rough, but today he did wonderfully.
ReplyDeleteAw, that's great! I'm glad he's enjoying his lessons. My kids love water, too. They get that from their dad. :)
Deletewe are finally seeing baby deer and our veggie garden is bringing on some fresh goodies!
ReplyDeleteYour vacation sounds wonderful for all! Have a great evening!
Baby deer are the cutest! I saw some just-born ones in our field when I was a kid. Adorable!
DeleteEnjoy those veggies. ☺
I'm jealous of your vacation! I could really use one right about now, but tomorrow I work a double and have to donate blood in between shifts, because I promised a friend. I'm questioning my sanity too. haha
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a great day yesterday, despite the double and the blood donation—and I hope you have the day off today! Regardless, have a great Thursday!
DeleteOh man, I'm in the same boat! I just got back from vacation too and I'm just looking at my ridiculous laundry list of things to do. Back to the normal world...wasn't vacation fun though?! Ah...

It's so hard to acclimate! It's Thursday now, and I'm still working on it. LOL
DeleteI hope your daughter has a beautiful birthday. I think vacations are great for pointing up what we value in routine!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sandy. And you're so right about that. I do love my routine. :)
DeleteMy husband and I are visiting my family for a couple weeks. So far, that's involved lots of games, being sick, and some reading downtime. Over the next few days, we'll probably start exploring the area as part of some research. I'm glad you enjoyed time with relatives!
ReplyDeleteI hope you're feeling better now. Other than the sickness, it sounds like a fascinating visit! Have a great time with the research. :)
DeletePassez des moments à la piscine c'est génial
