Back to reality

Happy Tuesday, friends. ☺

My family and I survived our weekend trip to visit relatives. The kids had a great time playing with their dad and cousins in their uncle and aunt's pool. I've never been much of a pool person (or an outdoors person, for that matter), but I enjoyed relaxing with a book and some Netflix.

Vacation was great while it lasted, but now it's back to reality. Bring on the laundry, the cleaning, the cooking, and the chauffeuring. (And the writing—that one I'm looking forward to.)

In other news, tomorrow is my daughter's fourth birthday, so tonight will be cake-baking night for me. This year, she wants a princess cake. I'll post a photo of it tomorrow if all goes well.

It's good to be back! Tell me what I missed. How have you been? What's new in your world?

Wishing you all a fantastic Tuesday. ☺

  6. You must be a better baker than my mom. We'd always go to the store as a kid. The cakes she made for me as an adult were pretty bad.

    1. I don't do a lot of baking, but I always like to attempt my kids' birthday cakes. Admittedly, some turn out better than others. :)

  7. Well if you had been at work with me you have missed the fire. We thought it was just a practice like they have but no, two engines a fire chief and a police car turned up. Turned out to be a fire in a swich room. Excitement over and back to work, worstthing was I did not have my camera with me.

Glad you had some down time away from the house .... I know the feeling. Laundry yesterday, polishing silver today... Oh, the joys.. did finish my re-write on my second novel ... YAY!!!

Rest of the week.... querying.... FUN... YEAH, RIGHT? LOL. Polishing silver may be a better outlet for my time ... LOL.

  12. Sometimes 'Reality' is good to get back to even when laundry looms. Now Princess cake baking...that's a reality check....FOUR years old...I bet everyday is the life of a Princess for her. My GrandGal is 15 Today! How time flies. Enjoy the Princess moments.

Now let's see...what did you miss from me. Thankfully no fires like Bill, but I did get two more 3xGreat Uncles written about...6 to go. I swear my ancestors were fertile folk.

  18. Welcome back. Can't wait to see that pretty cake. My girls always liked something fancy too. One year it was kitty cats. Another year it was Rainbow Brite's horse Starlite. Even today the favorite cake of my daughter who is getting married is funfetti. She joked that she'd have that for her wedding cake.

  20. That first couple of days of reality is harsh, but it sounds like you had a great time. I'm actually home while everyone else is on trips to Europe (hubby and #1 son on separate trips) I've gone on housework strike in protest, lots of book reading for me too :-)

  21. Welcome back! I hate those first few days after a vacation. Although my first few days back from France I basically slept, so that wasn't so bad :D

Can't wait to see the cake! I still think I'm a princess so...

    1. Yes, it's so hard to get back into the swing of "real" life.

My daughter says she's going to be a real princess when she grows up. I think I'll be making princess cakes for many years. Love it!

  28. My husband and I are visiting my family for a couple weeks. So far, that's involved lots of games, being sick, and some reading downtime. Over the next few days, we'll probably start exploring the area as part of some research. I'm glad you enjoyed time with relatives!
