Like a chicken with no head...
Yes, that pretty much describes me right now. ☺
A week from tomorrow, my family and I will be leaving for our annual, two-week vacation to my home state of Michigan, and I have so much left to do to get ready! No matter how well I plan, it seems that the days leading up to the trip always find me running around like a crazy woman as I attempt to get everything done, and the craziness doesn't end until we pull out of the driveway. Then I relax and feel grateful that I'm in the passenger seat: I can take a nap!
Wishing you all a calm and relaxing Saturday. ☺

Holidays aren't really much of a holiday are they? Hope you find some quiet time to enjoy and relax
ReplyDeleteYou're so right about that! (It also seems like moms do most of the prep work—or at least it feels that way...)
DeleteThanks, Fiona. We're going to a get-together later today, so I hope to find my relaxation there. Have a nice Saturday!
I sometimes think they are more trouble than they're worth, with all the planning. Have a great time!
ReplyDeleteI hear you, especially since I still have to pack the kids things as well. It's a lot to remember!
DeleteNever plan a vacation wing it, more fun
ReplyDeleteEek! I'm way too much of a control freak. LOL
DeleteWe have found a way to beat all that planning nonsense. We simply change some furniture around, and move into our "summer cottage" mode. The swimming pool becomes our lake, etc.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful vacation!
Blessings and Bear hugs!

Life in the Urban Forest (poetry)
I love that!
DeleteThanks so much. I hope your summer has been wonderful. :)
I am sure all of the planning will be worth it. We too are putting the finishing touches on our vacation in 2 weeks time. We have to coordinate with 2 other couples which adds to the fun.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck! I can't even imagine having to coordinate with another family as well. :)
DeleteThanks, Adam. I'm sure we will once we get there. It's the getting ready that's not so fun. :)
ReplyDeletethat's what I do also! Have a fun time! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I'm not the only one! Thanks. :)
DeleteYes, it would be terrible to go like a headless chicken!
ReplyDeleteOh, it is. I don't like rushing around. :)
DeleteThe next thing for the headless chicken is the boiling pot of water to loosen the feathers. Be careful, you don't want that!
ReplyDeleteNext the feathers are all plucked followed by singeing the pinfeathers. Presto, the chicken is ready to be cut and cooked.
..
Unless you want to pickle them, the feet are cut off and discarded before cutting the chicken.
Delete..
Yikes! ☺
DeleteHave a happy Saturday, Jim.
Michigan's got a ton to do this time of year too!! It's my favorite time of the year to be here (though Fall is pretty too).
ReplyDeleteI love fall in Upper Michigan. You're right: it's beautiful!
DeleteAll I can say, Dana, is "roll on 2 weeks time!"
ReplyDeleteI think you've got the right idea. :)
DeleteIt all gets done but if it doesn't - no matter - there are shops where you are going I presume?
ReplyDeleteHave a great time.
Sally, you are the voice of calm and reason. ☺ You're absolutely right. Thanks for the reminder.
DeleteNever seems like there's enough time! Hope you get everything taken care of, and very jealous that you get to be the passenger. I'm always the driver on our road trips.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Caitlin. Yes, I love being the passenger. It's a great time to read!
DeleteEnjoy the time away:)
ReplyDeleteI will—once I get past the packing-up part!
DeleteI know this busy time will be worth it. Wave in my direction in Illinois on your way. ;)
ReplyDeleteWe won't be driving that far west, but I'll definitely wave when we turn from Ohio into Michigan. :)
DeleteOnce, while on vacation I actually ate a headless chicken.
ReplyDeleteIntriguing. ;)
DeleteThey say that holidays are very high o the stress continuum. Relax soon for sure.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I plan to. :)
DeleteHave fun lovely Dana, and try to relax :). Kisses.
ReplyDeleteThanks! My friend told me last week to try and enjoy whatever moment I'm in. I think what you're both telling me is good advice.
Deletesounds like me too - although I say I am like a cat chasing my tail...
ReplyDeleteI love that! Happy Sunday. ☺
DeleteI have never gone on a two week vacation (as an adult w/my children). It's gotta be a lot of work to remember everything I bet. Hopefully you're able to have fun and relax when you get there.
ReplyDeleteMy husband is fine with letting me drive, but on long trips he usually does most of it. And it's so nice. Read a book. Be on the computer, at least until the kids start whining. :)
Have fun!
Thanks, Suzi! Oh, yes. I spend a lot of time reading and online (on my phone). I even write sometimes—but only when the kids are quiet. :)
DeleteNap is coming, nap is coming! --Enjoy your vacay!
ReplyDeleteYa, I like to be in the passenger seat too! It get bothered by everybody telling me how to drive. : )
ReplyDelete:) Have a great Monday, Joseph!
DeleteHello Dana,
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to see that this expression also exist in english "Like a chicken with no head..." I wouldn't probably try it but now I know and I can imagine how you felt. Now I hope you really took that nap dear ?
Happy (late) SWS !

I can't remember! I hope I did. LOL
DeleteHave a lovely week, Grace. ☺
Good luck with the rest of your trip preparation. Hope you guys have a great vacation!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I still have a ton to do—like laundry. That chore always keeps me busy up until the last minute...
