And the craziness continues...

Well, I'm down to the wire now. My family and I leave for our two-week vacation tomorrow morning. So far I've gotten a grand total of—wait for it—zero bags packed. My mind is swimming with all the things I still have to do: errands to run; stuff to buy; laundry to wash, dry, and fold; suitcases to pack...

I need a packing miracle...or maybe just the hilarious Mr. Bean:

In other news, remember when I peeled my finger a few weeks ago? Well, guess what I did again yesterday afternoon. You got it. Clearly, apples, potato peelers, and I should not mix. However, my kids were kind enough to give me one of their cool
Band-Aids, so it's all good. ☺

Cool,  huh?

Have a beautiful Saturday!

  1. Have a great holiday! Hopefully you won't encounter any peelers while you are away. And don't you just hate that packing panic?!

    1. Don't worry; I plan to stay far, far away from peelers. ;)

Yes, the packing frenzy is definitely getting to me. It's after 1 p.m. right now, and I still haven't gotten to the laundry. Gah!

  2. cute band-aid! but ouch!! It will all get done with packing and if you forget anything, you can always buy it along the way :) (that was my attitude when the kids were younger, as long as I packed my daughter's medicine, I was fine, realizing I could buy anything else we may have forgotten :)

you'll have such a great time!

    1. Buying things along the way: Why do I keep forgetting that's something I can do? Dumb packing panic... ;)

  3. I'm sure you will get it all done, just like the Bean! I'm sorry about your finger. Maybe you should just leave the peels on - my mom always taught me that is where the most vitamins are! I was always worried I would do that when I used to make my kids' baby food, but strangely it never happened. I guess fate understood that my kids needed to eat more than I needed to lose a finger.

    1. Thanks! I'm pretty sure I'll be up most of the night, but I'll get it all done (somehow). :)

I think apples taste better with the peels, but my two-year-old doesn't like them that way. Maybe one of these days I can get her to change her mind.

  4. Awww, love that sweet band aid. I've heard they make ones that look like a slice of bacon, but I've never found them. Your poor finger. I think you need a vacation, so you can stay out of the kitchen and let it heal. :-)

    1. I've never heard of bacon Band-Aids. I don't know whether to be thrilled or disgusted by them. ;)

I didn't hurt my finger nearly as much this time, so I'm thankful for that. I'll try to stay far away from potato peelers during my vacation. :)

  6. Have a great trip Dana! I am never packed until the day before running around doing laundry and last minute errands so you are in good company (if I do say so myself, ha!)

    1. The fact that you do everything at the last minute makes me feel better. I'm happy to be in such good company. :)

      Thanks, Stacie!

  7. I haven't seen a lot of Mr. Bean, but that was very funny!! Good luck with packing, I can only imagine how tough it is with little ones!

  8. Maybe you need to avoid peelers for a while.

    Have fun on your trip!

  10. I hope on vacation others will feed you and you won't be invited into any kitchens. Safe travels! Gather plenty of great ideas for future blogs. You'll be missed.

    1. Thanks, Wendy. I was just telling my husband about how much I'm going to miss everyone here in the blogosphere since I won't have Internet access at my parents'. :(

(I'll try to stay out of the kitchen!) ;)

  11. Hope the vacation goes better. The bachelors guide to packing is recommended for situations like yours: Open up the case and throw in the first things that come to hand. When the case is full, shut it and go.

As for you little pinky, get the kids to cut things for you. Think of it as a learning experience for them.

    1. Let's see: what's nearby? How about a glass of water, a book, my phone, an unopened package of blank cassette tapes, a Matchbox car, and a plastic train track? Those will do, don't you think? :)

Haha! My kids beg me to let them cut stuff. Why not let them peel their own apples? ;)

  12. Ouch! I flinch when people talk about cuts...or peeling of fingers. Bring lots of bandaids with you to keep the cut clean. :)
Mr. Bean is so funny! That was a cute video I hadn't seen.
Enjoy! Have a fantastic time!! :):)

  14. When I pack for a trip, I make sure I have one pair of underwear for each day I'll be gone (I'm kind to Mrs. Penwasser that way). Everything else sorts itself out.
    Enjoy your vacation!
p.s. The only Band-Aids in my house are Cinderella ones. They really hurt my tough, macho image.
    Yeah, it's the Band-Aids.

    1. I'm sure Mrs. Penwasser appreciates your consideration. :) I do like what you said about everything sorting itself out. I'm hoping that happens to me sometime between now (just after 1 a.m.) and getting-up time (6-ish). Good grief I'm tired...

Your image is only hurt if you're trying on glass slippers. ;)

Happy Saturday (oops, Sunday now), Al!

  17. A two-week vacation? Sounds like fun! I'm not allowed to use the mandolin slicer, since I can never find the finger guard and attempt to use it anyway.....yep. Sliced off the top of my finger twice, and my family said that was two times too many!

    1. I guess I should be very happy that I don't have a mandolin slicer. Yikes!

Vacation will be great! We're going to visit my parents. I only get to see them once a year, so the visit is always something to look forward to. :)
