NaNoWriMo uncertainty

There's now a possibility that I may not be able to participate in NaNoWriMo next month. I can't really get into the details right now, except to say that someone very close to me has discouraged me from making the attempt. I've been having a lot of fun brainstorming and prepping and have really been looking forward to working on my project, but I'll need to see what happens in the next few days in order to decide if it's going to happen this year.

Just don't count me out yet. ;)

  1. Aw, that's too bad. I won't ask why they discouraged you from doing it but I will say that you should still attempt to write your novel. It doesn't have to be for NaNoWriMo. Don't waste that time for nothing. I hope everything works out in the end.

  2. Hi,
Visiting from the 100 words project, I have enjoyed reading your pieces. I do hope you decide to take on the NaNo challenge, I have been looking forward to it for months now. Have some faith in your own story and your ability to carry it through, if nothing else sometimes spending time thinking hard about something else can surely put any other problems into perspective.
    with best wishes

  3. I'd like to discourage the discourager, FWIW. It's important to nurture your dreams, and it's regrettable the discouraging faction is underestimating the importance of that. :(

    Fingers crossed!

  4. i hope you will go for it anyway! even if odds are against you to finish in the month, think of all you could get done!

reconsider. its easier to believe the negative & doubt. you know what you can do! (read these quotes for a boost too! )

  5. Thank you all so much for the encouragement! As I tried to fall asleep last night, I thought about what I had written in this blog entry, and I realized that I needed to explain what happened to lead me to yesterday's decision.

The person who said discouraging things about my writing was my husband, and so I'm sure you can understand that those words really hurt a lot. He also implied that I'm wasting my time writing--that there are other things I could/should be doing instead. His comments came about during an argument about something stupid; they were said in the heat of the moment, so I realize that maybe they didn't reflect his true feelings... Regardless, I've decided not to let whatever he meant by his comment affect me. I do think that I'll continue with my NaNo planning, even if it means I need to be quiet about it around the house. It's what I want to do.

Thank you all again for your suggestions and encouragement!
