On getting older

Today's 100 words:

I woke up with a tingling left hand and a crick in my neck, and although I know that both are merely the result of a fitful night's sleep, I can't help but also think of them as harbingers of age. I'll turn forty in August, and sometimes I have "I can't believe it" moments when I think of that milestone. It's not that I consider forty old, but it seems unreal that the eighteen-year-old I used to be--the one starting college and beginning her life--could already have had that many birthdays. Time passes so fast.

    1. Your comment made me incredibly happy! (The part about how old I look, not about your carpal tunnel... ;) ) Thanks! I always thought you were in your thirties as well. We must both be aging well! :)

  3. I was just thinking the same about myself the other day. Things just hurt more, more often. My hubby is 5 years younger (still in his twenties the young pup) and I tell him all the time, wait till you hit 30, things just ache :-/

    1. My husband is thirteen years older, and he's always trying to one-up me about aches and pains. If I complain, he says, "Oh, yeah? Well, just wait until this happens to you." LOL

  4. But on the bright side, all those years give you that much more to write about.
