I admit that sometimes it's hard to drag myself out of bed on Monday mornings. After all, Monday means I'm back to waking up at 5:30, back to packing lunches, back to the daily routine/grind—all things that seem just a little too difficult to think about after a weekend off. However, there are also some things about Mondays that I absolutely love:
♥ The promise of a new beginning. Monday is all about second chances. ☺
♥ Storytime at the library. My daughter loves it, and I love having the opportunity to pick up some new books.
♥ A new episode of The Carrie Diaries. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite shows.
♥ Naptime. Because we're usually busy on the weekends, my daughter often misses her nap. Starting on Mondays, naptime is back, and that means time for me to write and get things done around the house.
♥ A new edition of Ted Kooser's American Life in Poetry column. I look forward to this every week.
♥ On Wednesday, the temperature here is supposed to reach nearly 60 degrees. That's definitely something to look forward to!
Love them or hate them: How do you feel about Mondays?
Wishing you a wonderful week!
I know that Mondays get a bad rap, but according to statistics, over 12,000 childbirths and 8,000 pet adoptions will occur today throughout the United States. The words “I love you” will be said millions of times. Not too bad for a Monday :)
ReplyDeleteThose are some pretty great statistics!
Deletewe are kinda thinking alike this morning dana--love this and oh how fondly i remember library story time--have a great monday :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lynn. Have a great day!
DeleteI'm mixed about Mondays. On one hand, it's nice to have a fresh start. On the other, it means I'm back on the crazy work wheel, spinning like a mad woman! (I love the picture you posted!)
ReplyDeleteAbout the picture: there are some absolutely gorgeous photos on that site.
DeleteI hope you have a calm week. :)
All good reasons to love Mondays. I like Mondays because that's when my bell choir holds practice. (By the way, I wonder why the Optimistic Existentialist uses that name? LOL)
ReplyDeleteThe bell choir is a good reason, too. Enjoy!
DeleteHaha! I love his name. :)
Who wouldn't love Mondays with a post like this! Remember that song "Rainy days and Monday?" by the Carpenters. Mondays are usually my recuperating days too. After a weekend of hard work. All the kids are late to school too....LOL. I have to check out that Carrie series when I have a friggin TV.
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks. I hope your day is going well. :)
DeleteWhat a wonderful and positive outlook- I love it! Mondays are always hard to get back into the routine of things. But you're right, so much to look forward to...even if it's just the next weekend! Have a great week- talk soon :)
ReplyDeleteI hadn't thought of that. You're right: if nothing else, we can always look forward to the next weekend. Love it!
DeleteI want your Monday attitude!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I have to work at it. :)
DeleteI'm like old Garfield on mondays
ReplyDeleteHaha!
DeleteI quite like Mondays! I dread them during the weekend but I agree with you when you say they're a fresh start! Though I like them less now that I have class on that day, I used to have Fridays and Mondays off from uni which was very nice!
ReplyDeleteMondays get a bad rap, as Optimistic Existentialist said above. I think it's that dread factor you mentioned. They're really not that bad. :)
DeleteMondays are a bit of a mixed bag for me. It's nice to have a schedule again, but it means the weekend is over. I think I dislike Wednesdays even more though.
ReplyDeleteNow you've got me curious...
DeleteI love Mondays. It's the last day to myself before I go to work (for only two days but it's still nice). It's the day I get stuff done.
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a great Monday!
DeleteWonderful post filled with positive thoughts.
ReplyDeleteThanks. :)
DeleteGreat way to begin the week. I like Mondays for those reasons too. I can't believe it's going to be that warm this week. Too bad it'll be raining. My little guy really wants to go outside and play.
ReplyDeleteI'm okay with the rain as long as it brings warmer temps. :)
DeleteI love all your reasons for loving Mondays - especially storytime at the library :)
ReplyDeleteMy daughter had a great time there today. :)
DeleteThose are some great reasons to love Mondays! I don't really care for them since I work at a daycare and the first day back after spending a weekend with mom and dad is hard for the little ones. I'm glad someone enjoys Monday. :)
ReplyDeleteI can see how Mondays would be difficult for daycare workers. I hope your day went well. :)
DeleteI bet it is fun with story time with your daughter! Wonderful to introduce her to the library like this too!! Mondays aren't too bad indeed!! Glad to hear it is warming up too!
ReplyDeletebetty
Thanks, Betty. I hope you had a wonderful Monday!
DeleteI emphatically do not like Mondays BUT... I liked this post b/c I learned about the American Life in Poetry column! Yay, Ted Kooser! Thanks, Dana!
ReplyDeleteIt's a great column!
Deleteevery time i hear the carrie diaries i think of "square pegs" - remember that?
ReplyDeleteI tried to think of something positive to say about Monday and I came up with: my sister and I work together on Monday. Not only do I enjoy our friendship, I really love working with her. Thanks for inspiring me to get out of my Monday blahs!
ReplyDeleteMonday can be a tough day. I'm glad you were able to think of something you like about it. I think there's always something good there if we think about it hard enough. :)
