Elation: Clerk thought I was underage!
I rarely buy alcohol, but last night I stopped by a liquor store to pick up some wine. Unlike the local grocery stores, the liquor stores don't automatically card everyone who makes a purchase, and I was thrilled when the clerk asked me for my license! Last year I had a pretty big birthday, and I had assumed that I would never be carded again. The smile on my face when I walked out of the store was huge, and it lasted the rest of the night!
Wishing you all a weekend filled with unexpected happiness!
Thats awesome. Love it when that happens. I was with my 19 yr old daughter a while back and someone thought we were sisters...I was like...I love you! LOL.
ReplyDeleteI think the clerk thought I was nuts. I kept thanking her over and over. Haha!
DeleteI will be 45 in a couple months, and I still get carded - drives my husband nuts because he'll be standing right next to me! :D
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! :)
DeleteI'm going in the opposite direction. Last year I was asked in a Blacksburg, Virginia Hardees if I wanted the "Senior" discount. I was quite taken aback and replied, "NO!!" (I'm not old enough...yet).
ReplyDeleteWhen I told Mrs. Penwasser, she let me have it. "You mean you REJECTED a discount??? What's wrong with you??"
From now on, I'll take a discount when I get it.
This summer, I turn 55 and will be able to get a discount at the Bob Evans in Milford, Delaware. You better believe I'm gonna go get me some cheap eggs.
Like you, as soon as I qualify for the senior discount, I'm going to take it. Funny how that works...
DeleteA very nice boost for the old ego :) You do look quite young... The last time I was carded was in my early 30's - my mom, sister & I were headed into the theatre. Like you, I couldn't wipe the smile off my face!
ReplyDeleteThanks. :)
DeleteI had to go grocery shopping after this happened, and the people in the store must have thought I was nuts when they saw that grin spread all over my face!
I had the same experience recently but the lady thought I DIDN'T qualify for the senior discount:) Still feels good...
ReplyDeleteYay for us!
DeleteHappy weekend. :)
I would consider that a compliment as I still have to show ID but no one believes I am under age
ReplyDeleteI was definitely flattered. :)
DeleteI'm jealous!
ReplyDeleteHaha! ;)
DeleteCongratulations!
ReplyDeleteThat is always a great compliment!
Thanks. I'll admit that I'm still smiling about it today. :)
DeleteThat would make me smile, too.
ReplyDeleteMy hubby was carded even after he was a father to 3 kids. He let his hair go grey and now I send him to buy tickets because he gets the senior's discount automatically.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! :)
Deleteisn't being carded the best feeling?
ReplyDeleteNot much beats it!
DeleteMy office mate, who claims she's a prety good judge of age, underaged me by 12 years yesterday--and I don't think she was just being kind because she seemed genuinely surprised when I told he I'm soon to be 62.
ReplyDeleteI don't WANT the damned Senior Discount!
Wow! That must have been a great feeling!
DeleteWell, that's kind of cool, really!
ReplyDeleteIt was a nice way to end the day. :)
DeleteCongrats on looking so young! It's really a boost when anyone thinks we're younger than we are!
ReplyDeleteIt sure is. I'm still smiling!
Deletea great feeling! you do look young!
ReplyDeletehasn't happened to me in a while, i keep getting "ma'am"d
but my friends all say i look younger than them, so that's nice!
Thanks, Tara! I get the ma'ams too, which made this experience even better.
DeleteThanks again for the banner. I love it!
Dana your new banner is adorable I LOVE it!!! it is so YOU!!! and congrats on your SWS post it is fun to feel the youth in life once in awhile and by that I mean we are younger than we feel on any given day!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks to both! My friend Tara from Tara Tyler Talks (www.taratylertalks.blogspot.com) designed it. I absolutely love it!
DeleteIt's nice to feel young. :)
love the new blog look Dana! Good for you to get carded!! I remember my husband last got carded when he was about 39 years old, LOL; he went to the store first thing in the morning to get some things I needed for that certain time of the month (good guy he is) and got some beer since it was a Saturday and they carded him. He was so excited when he came home and told me. I always looked older than I was so even before I was 21 and out where I shouldn't have been (those were the good old days when they didn't routinely card, LOL) I rarely got carded. Son has a "baby" face and we figure he'll be carded into his 30's.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the feeling!!
and have a great rest of the weekend!
betty
Thanks! My friend Tara from Tara Tyler Talks (www.taratylertalks.blogspot.com) designed my new banner. I love it!
DeleteThat must have been a great experience for your husband. I definitely know how he felt! I'm still smiling. :)
Happy Sunday!
What a great moment for you :)
ReplyDeleteIt really was! :)
DeleteThat is very exciting! Unfortunately, hasn't happened to me in a long, long time. I blame the kids for aging me.
ReplyDeleteI hear you! I suspect I'll start finding gray hair soon...
DeleteCongratulations! I can't remember the last time that happened to me, but I do remember how it made me feel.
ReplyDeleteOn the rare times I still get carded I know the ABC people are probably on the premises, but it is a real confidence booster for a few seconds! :)
ReplyDeleteHaha! Indeed. :)
DeleteThat's happened to me too a few times after I hit thirty. Not so much now I'm getting closer to 40 though.
ReplyDeleteAnd then you've got the opposite. Like the other day I was in the library young adult section. And this teen girl says, Excuse me ma'am and then asks me a question.
I appreciated her politeness, but I sighed inwardly. Ma'am. Why can't they come up with a new word that means Ma'am, but that isn't Ma'am? I'd settle for Miss, but a new word would be even better.
Don't you just love being called ma'am? ;) That's happened to me a few times, too.
DeleteBravo for being awarded perfect genes!
ReplyDeleteI'd better thank my parents the next time I talk to them!
DeleteYou ARE quite youthful! Love every second of it!
ReplyDeleteAw, you're sweet. Thanks!
